I know this sounds random- but last nigh ! saw a bright white light. I have never experienced anything like this- I was not alseep, just there with my eyes closed, then all of a sudden this bright light, intense white..was blinding my eyes. It was as if someone was standing over me with an LED flashlight shining it right in my eyes, only more intense..the strange part of this all... I found this on the web dated 2010 and this is exactly what happened to me this morning 2/17/12

In the initial phases of the sleep cycle and while awakening, we tend to be more conscious or alert. If we study the brain waves at these phases they tend to show the alert wave pattern, this could cause the awareness. If it is not interfering with your sleep schedules you don't have to worry. If it persists or is troublesome consult your doctor for assessment.
