just a concern mom

My daughter is 16  years old and last night she awoke me from my sleep to come sleep with her, she said she went to bed and fell asleep, and awoke from her sleep in a parralize state with her eyes wide open, and seeing a very creepy man. She was very terrified, she said it felt like she couldn't move or scream, etc.
So all day she has me crazy, so is there anyone on here with the same symptoms or could anyone help me to give her an answer....  Thank rosie

Hi I can offer a couple of answers maybe. My family including myself all suffer from "Night terrors" it is when you wake up but you are still dreaming. This could be the case as my sister experienced this when she was younger.

Although, I believe in other intelligent life forms and you never know whats really out there as people have experienced many kinds of weird things while being paralized and cant talk. SO I wouldnt completely rule that one out as weird and stupid as it seems.

I have woken many times seeing ghosts or people walking around the house and i screamed waking my husband up many times, until i realized it only ever happened just as i woke up and not while i was WIDE awake. They still looked very real and these are night terrors. They can be so scary and real. Tell her to sleep with a light on so she does not get any confusion with towels on doors. It helps a lot.

There is one more scary thought...what if it was someone real who gave her a drug and did things and then left??? I certainly hope not. I really think its night terrors. I hope i gave you some ideas??

Hi there. I'm no expert but this sounds like she may have had an episode of sleep paralysis - when someone wakes up unable move.
The 'man' she saw could be a hallucination. If it continues then you should look into a sleep disorder called narcolepsy, as sleep paralysis and hypnagogic hallucinations are both symptoms of this. However, it could be that she may have just had a nightmare.

I hope you find your answers (:
