I am a 27 year old female who is fairly healthy. I eat a well rounded diet and don't drink soda or anything like that. I do like to have a few drinks but that is once/twice month. I am also active and love to be outside, however, I work 60-65 hour weeks on the regular. My problem began in my teens. I sleep too much... I could sleep 12 hours a night, with a 3 hour nap during the day. On the weekends I go to bed early 9-10pm and wake up around 11am only to go back to sleep and not get out of bed until 1pm...while still feeling exhausted. I will have moments of "clarity" where I perk up and have a lot of energy and I love those days. I am a proactive person and I love getting things done and this need for sleep has severely cut into my social life and just my life in general. I had recent blood work and everything looked great. I've had my thyroid checked and apparently that is not the issue. I have asked doctors about this before with the answer of "women require more sleep" or "you may be a long sleeper". I am concerned. Sometimes I even have to nap on my lunch break at work!
