I am reading the question as Amanda talking directly at Dr. Lupo. That is where my post came from.
Again - Yes - it's a cruel situation out there for us thyroid patients and god knows, we all have some situation with bad doctors but, This was one person speaking about Dr. Lupo.
I do not agree with someone writing a bad review of Dr. Lupo, especially when he gives his time up to view the questions asked on the expert side.
That's all
i wasn't pointing fingure or anything dawn and ofcourse we learn from each others .Openion is how we learn to look in different direction so by any mean i had no intention of insulting you .And every country has its own ways of working so chances are we can have mix openion about this.
take it easy
Has anyone seen some of the answers this guy gives? I sure hope I don't get an answers like this guy gives...Sorry no dont believe i missed the point, but we are all entitled to our own opinion.. ....Dawn
I understand how hard it is to find a doctor who will listen and work with us - I certainly had enough problems with my own pcp, who either ignored my symptoms, thought I was a hypochondriac or whatever. I certainly sympathize with anyone who is having a problem finding a doctor who will listen and take their problems seriously. It's one of the most frustrating things to have happen
In spite of that, I have to stick with what I said earlier - Dr Lupo is taking his time to answer posts for people he doesn't know, has never examined and only knows what little bit about a person as is put in the original post. Just think what it would be like not to have an expert on this forum. I don't think it's fair to lump all doctors into the same category - some are hard to get to listen, but there are those out there that WILL take the time and I feel confident that if Dr Lupo were actually our doctor and could know our individual circumstances from start to finish, his advice would be much less "generalized".
Yes that is correct. Good luck finding a doctor that is willing to let you be a part of your health care it is not that easy to come by. I have never even asked the doctor here a question or read anyof the posts from him I am sure he is a very good doctor and is very generous to help every one here. My posting is geared towards saying thyroid problems are often over looked and dismissed and that needs to change.
stella,barb,dawngela,
I think you all are missing her point and misunderstood what amanda and mommyjamieof2 was trying to say Don't get me wronge i have high level of respect for doctors they are very well trained to do this but to find a real doc. is still tuff why coz majority of them don't listen to pateint complain or under estimate there complain the easy it to call them hypercondriac and more classic diagnose them with depression.
But this are all the symptom even if to some medical condition.
They have to be your good detective they get clues from their patients all they have to do it put together the puzzel to figure out with right test most of them just do CBC and tell you you are fine even though you are comlpaining they can guess from complain the possibilty of health issues and do all those test in regard to rule out .
We need more of compationate doc. like Dr. Lupo and my doc. GP i have highest respect for them

I did a posting to Dr. Lupo when I first came to this site and he was 'spot on' regarding Graves and me having it.
But there is one thing that people here must also remember.
Dr. Lupo 'advises'...he doesnt diagnose.
If he did, he would be leaving himself wide open for some to sue him.
Come ne Girls..use your brain.
A Doctor can only tell you what he thinks....his general feeling of the situation at hand.
He cant see you or talk to you......
He cant monitor your symptoms daily.......
He cant tell you if the symptoms you are having are normal as ...really...'what is normal'?
I admire him for taking time out from his busy schedule to stick his face into a site full of people who are not well.
People from all walks of life.
Give the guy a break and instead of being destructive..be CONSTRUCTIVE.
He was most polite and actually it warmed my heart that 'someone' took the time to CARE.
I give him 10/10 for being here.
I agree with Stella and Dawn. Although I agree that it's often hard to get doctors to listen and take us seriously, it's very kind of Dr Lupo to take his time to answer questions. He's trying to answer questions for people he doesn't know, has never seen and knows very little about.
Stella, I would have to say though - there are those doctors who just really get hostile when we do our own research and have an idea of how we want our issues to be handled. As a lot of you know, I've just gone through that with my own pcp and the insurance company had nothing to do with it. BUT, I've taken that into my own hands also and gotten an appt with a different doctor.
Dr Lupo has been a tremendous support to all on here who are at a desperate time in their lives..Without his knowledge at putting our minds at rest till we can see our own dr to get answers has helped me no end, and my anxiety...i had to wait three months to see a specialist. I felt a great comfort in what he has to say..Keep up the great work Dr. Dawn.
I don't really think dogging the medical society is what we do here. They are just as human as us and probably don't have the disease as we do.
Instead of putting all your faith in someone else's thoughts entirely, my healing really started happening when I put forth my efforts in learning how to get better and work with my doctor as someone with knowledge to help me get better.
We worked together and that never would of happened - unless I LEARNED about what I needed.
I was ready to pull this post off the board - but I chose not to. Dr. Lupo has a knowledge that he commits to sharing with everyone here. Again - this is his knowledge of what he has learned and offers it to his patients and to this board. Judging him and what he offers is ignorant of any patient seeking advice.
What do you know about your disease is what should be asked. Not starting a conversation on a doctor you never saw.
Although I will add - that there are many misunderstandings when it comes to thyroid disease. That's not going to change until the patients KNOW what they have going on and fight to get well.
The days are past when we can go into a doctors office and really understand what's happening to us. They are overloaded , and insurance dictates their pratices.
Yup I agree something needs to change. It is not right that people are needlessly suffering...
