When do you take your med?

I receive author Mary Shomon's newletters all about thyroid issues and the most recent one discusses when the best time to take our meds is. I take mine in the morning with water and wait an hour before having anything else to eat or drink. This research suggests it might be better to take the med at night before going to bed. When do you take yours?

Wow today was not what i expected.  I really like this lady im seeing.

I went in to tell her my progress or lack of.  I ended up having a full sonogram, she told me to bump my medicine from 1.5 grains to 1.75 grains  and i got a shot of testosterone in my tush.  I feel GREAT right now LOL.

I am now going to have shots every week for testosterone.  Mine was 215  ranges 400-1000.   I am going to bump to 2 grains of nature throid.  She said that if this was the 1950's and i walked in looking the way i did, she would bump me without even doing labs.  She did my full lab panel but told me to go ahead and bump because i am far from out of the water.

Euthyrox is only Levothyroxine T4.

Most take at AM, some PM, whatever works better for you.

"And if I can take Euthyrox at night it has to be 2-3 hours after food and drink right ?"

- exactly

I take Euthyrox 50mgs in the morning, then go back to sleep for 40 mins before breakfast, I don't know if my pills are T3 or T4??  I'd like to see if it would be better am or pm.
And if I can take Euthyrox at night it has to be 2-3 hours after food and drink right??

Thanks
Nikki

"the more you spred out your doses, the less peaks and valleys you will have"

I mis- worded that. Should have said the the opposite. Divide your daily dose total into more doses per day for less peaks and valleys. Maybe four times for best results, but this can be challanging around food.

" I was asking if you took any additional t3 in between your normal dosing of NTH"

No. Why would someone do that, take T3 only like cytomel between NTH?
Not a normal thing to do.

Naural thyroid, dessicated thyroid, NTH - whatever you want to call "piggy thyroid" - it all has a higher ratio of T3 in it to T4,  higher than what humans naturally do. So taking additional T3 med with natural thyroid med is something I cant imagine anyone doing. I dont imagine that would be very healthy, as to much T3 is not good.

People with reverse t3 take only T3 med for a limited time, but not with T4.

If your labs show you are still low, the more you spred out your doses, the less peaks and valleys you will have.

good retest and raise it up a little  if the doc says so. keep at that same dose for another 4-6 weeks,  eventually you will level out , your energy will get good /normal. then you also find you actually sleep better and feel better , normal energy  less and less weird side effects of your body gets back into a natural cycle of energy/sleep pattern,  less ups and downs. less  looking for next dose for energy, it levels out to unnoticeable for the most part, sometime you even forget to take it , but good to stay on a same steady schedule ,  and then it begins to heal. your on the right road , but go slow and steady give your body time to adjust. kevin
