When do you take your med?

I receive author Mary Shomon's newletters all about thyroid issues and the most recent one discusses when the best time to take our meds is. I take mine in the morning with water and wait an hour before having anything else to eat or drink. This research suggests it might be better to take the med at night before going to bed. When do you take yours?

Katy,

what is your dose?

Moose-  my pills are 1/4 grain pills.  They are tiny.  I take 3 of these in the middle of the night and go back to sleep and sleep like a dead person.  If i dont get a full 8 hours of rest, i feel horrible.

Then about 2 pm i take 3  more of these 1/4 grain pills.  Except i feel different.  I get very anxious, dizzy, shaky, uncomfortable, cant think, hate my life.

So total dose for me when all is said and done is 1.5 grain in a 24 hour period.

I am thinking of lowering the afternoon dose and increasing the middle of the night dose.  OR if i have to increase my dose, add to the middle of the night dose and leave the afternoon dose as it stands.

The goal from what i hear is to not be able to tell you are taking any hormone at all, you just feel "normal"   however i do not feel this way.  I can feel it come on a couple hours after i take it, and i can feel it wear off.  It *****.

"for many, T3 is almost like coffee"

Good thing "many" and everyone are not the same.

It is interesting that T3 / T4 combo works well for you while sleeping. Great news to here, as people seldome mention good discoveries here.

We're all different.

LazyMoose, that isn't the case for everyone.

I take my full dose of NDT (which contains T4 and T3) either right before climbing into bed, or at 4 AM, and then I go back to sleep.

Both work beautifully for me and help me sleep better than I've been sleeping in years.

So you take quantity 3 one grain tablets daily..?

Might as well try taking the dose different ways / times. Do you spread out the dose three times a day? Might try that instead of onece or twice daily.

What can I say...........for many, T3 is almost like coffee, only a calmer awareness. Trance feeling is obviously not normal. Why you have a different experience to the thyroid meds you have tried is mysterious as you know. Hopefully you will find out the answers sooner than later.

I would say that maybe you still are not on enough, but in the past increasing seemed difficult for you. Many feel lousy when increasing thyroid med, not nearly how you describe it though. Time........

Well.....  I dont really understand any of this crap anymore.  I take my first dose of thryoid at 3 am.  I fall back to sleep like a baby.  It puts me in a trance.  IM taking NTH and my first dose is 3  1/4 grain pills.  One thing that is nice about the morning dose is that the medication still makes me feel horrid, ear ringing, confused etc but i sleep right through it.  I think my body need the t3 to sleep.

Also i cant take any other thryoid, and can barely take the NTH but i keep pushing forward thinking something will change.  But it doesnt.
