Odd pain in left arm

I've actually had this for a few years now. It's just steadily grown worse. It's usually about midway down my left upper arm, although it sometimes includes the shoulder. When I reach in any sort of backward movement, it starts hurting right there. Once I was getting in the car with my arm resting on the top of the door, and when I sat down, it felt as though someone was tearing my arm off. It's usually more of a high-moderate pain (maybe a 6 or 7 out of 10) that goes away fairly quickly. My arm is not sore to the touch, although I don't care for pressure on it (such as someone resting their head on my shoulder). Even when the pain hits, it doesn't hurt to touch it, or even put pressure on it.

Is it possibly some kind of nerve damage akin to carpal tunnel? Maybe a ligament problem?

Hve you been to your GP? he/she could check this out for you. Try and use your other arm a little more, maybe you use that arm a lot and it's tired? Sorry this isn't a lot, i didnt really know what to put. I hope i've helped even the slightest!x
