Any Ideas?

On Oct 4 I was with a girl and we had genital contact (she was rubbing on me)but no penetration.  Thre days later I noticed some burning/discomfort on the tip of my penis.  I went to a clinic that Saturday had urine test and was prescribed cipro for seven days.  That monday there was a strong burning sensation on my inner thighs and general groin/pelvic area and my testacles were redder than usual.  I also noticed the burning/discomfort was very strong where my thigh meets my groin in the skin fold.  The burning continued but seemed to lessen.  Fri Oct 16 I went for a shower and noticed a large lump above my testicle in my scrotum.  I immediately went to the clinic.  I was given cerfixime and another pill and ent for urine/ultrasound tests.  That night the burning returned.  The next day I went for my initail follow up appt. and was told I had epidimtutis and to wait and come back next week and the burning was in my head.  The burning isnt in my head I got some antifungal cream and it has seemed to have lessened.  The burning on the tip of  my penis comes and goes and my right testicle, thigh and groin hurt like crazy at times.  What is this and what can I do?  Please help.

Dr. Singh,  What would cause the epididymitis?  The gonorhea/chlamidia results were negative.  I have noticed burning/itching in the fold of skin between the scrotum and thigh as well as itching on the thighs and lower abdomen.  Do you think this could this be related or caused from the medication?  Also I experienced severe abdomenal and back pain on my right side on Saturday as well as the urethra pain on and off for a month.  Is this common and how long does it take for symptoms to typically go away?  Do you think I may need more cypro?

So almost a week later, the testicle pain ect has greatly improved, now jujst an occasional discomfort.  The last two days have been horrible though.  The burning of the urethra comes and goes.  The thigh burning turned to severe itching.  It was on my thighs and groin/thigh area for the first day, then the second it seemed to be more on my lower thighs and calves as well as my waist where my underwear elastic is.  THere is a definite red scaly dry skin where the itching occurs.  The fungal lotion has seemed to help.  I also seem to have some diarhea and a sore throat this week.  I go back to the doctor Saturday or maybe tomorrow depending how bad it is.  I want to get this over with already.

Hi, I agree with Dr. Singh. I used to get this about 3 to 4 times a year.
Since you have got a fever and are feeling ill you should go and see a doctor. Cipro alone will not take care of this infection.

I used to get hospitalized every time that I had this. I was treated with IV antibiotics and used cold packs for the swelling and pain in the testicles.

Get medical help right away. This can damage your testicles and might cause infertility.

I had a vasectomy in 1999 to stop the infections from getting into the testicles. It did help but was caused due to UTI.

All the best.

The doctor prescribed muscle relaxants for the pain and they seem to help.  Tonight things seemed good then I got a fever and upset stomach.  The burning and irritation of the urethra is present on and off.  Tonight my thighs and groin were burning again.  I am supposed to follow up with the doctor in a week.  I hope things get better.

I took the cipro for a week.  Have been off it for a week now.  Seemed to be getting better, then had urethra burning again today.  How long does this last?  Should I be given more cipro?  Will update with doctors response tomorrow?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi,
You seem to suffer from acute epididymitis only and a course of antibiotics which you have been prescribed should settle everything. It may take sometime and hence please don’t worry. I can’t think of an alternate diagnosis and thus in my opinion your treatment is perfectly alright. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
