Help with UPJ obstruction pain

I've recently been diagnosed with a UPJ obstruction. I've been having the pain for about 10  years but they never knew what it was. They finally found the obstruction. In the past the pain only usually last 3 days at the most, but mainly just one day and I rest it and in the morning I'm fine. This time however I'm going on 2 weeks with the constant pain. I saw a urologist and they're sending me for a renal scan to see if they can do surgery or what. I forgot to ask the doctor if there's anything I can do to help it drain or do for the pain besides taking ibuprofen every 6 hours. My follow-up appointment isn't for 4 weeks, so I'd really like help getting the pain under control or to stop. I don't want to be dealing with this for another month

This is a complicated issue (obstruction of the ureter at the junction w/ kidney) - not sure anyone here can help, unless a medical professional can weigh in. If it were me, I’d just call the Dr or Uro & ask about pain relief in the meantime. Maybe they could prescribe smthg stronger for pain if the Ibuprofen is not helping enough. Obviously it should be a Med that wouldn’t cause the situation to get worse. Best of luck to you, hope you can get this taken care of ASAP...
