Swollen Urethra

Hi,

About a week ago, I was making out with a girl and doing a lot of rough dry humping.  Immediately afterwards, I noticed that my urethra was slightly swollen and red.  It didn't hurt at all while urinating, it was just a bit sensitive when it rubbed up against my shorts if I was at the gym or something.  I abstained from sex and masturbating for about a week even though it only took two days for things to return to normal.

I'm a college student, and I have two regular sexual partners that I have intercourse with, but always protected sex.  After my situation got better and my penis returned to normal, I masturbated, and immediately afterwards my urethra opening was swollen and red, but no pain or sensitivity at all, but I can't help to worry.  The only thing I noticed is that after urinating, my urine flow is slower at the end and kinda just drips off, and feels cold.  I don't want to go to a doctor because I'm terified of cystoscopes and STD testings, and I have no pain or discomfort that would make me think about wanting to endure that pain.  Its been about 4 days, but the tip still seems slightly swollen, and I am circumsized.  I have noticed that most of the time after intercourse, the head of my penis is slightly chaffed and cracked, which I know is just a common dermatology problem.  Once again, being a college student, I drink a lot of alcohol and consume many sodas.  Being modest and my fear of STD tests, going to a doctor is a last resort for me, and I have no signs of puss, burning, or anything like that.  Should I be worried that I have an STD, or does this seem like more of a dermatology issue?

Thanks,
Dan

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From your symptoms it looks like chafing. Chafing occurs when the skin becomes irritated by the friction caused by rubbing – either against other skin or against a foreign material. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. Also wear cotton undergarments. Application of mild corticosteroid cream and oral antiinflammatories like ibuprofen/acetaminophen are also helpful. If the symptoms are severe then it will be best to consult a doctor.

I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
