Swollen Vein Under Glans

hello Dr,

About a month ago after some tight masterbation, I immediately noticed a cord like vein just under my glan wrapping half way around the shaft.

Since it hasnt gone down at all, I provide it with regular heat wraps and gentle massaging. I went to my GP who advised just to wait it out, even though he hadnt ever seen such an issue in his career.

I assume its either lymph issues or a thrombosed vein.

When flaccid it is like a soft globular bean with hard rice-like bits, when erect it is this very hard and thin cord that protrudes from the side of the penis under the glan and is sore to touch when flaccid or erect. One tiny part of the hard vein has a slight blue tint to it when it is erect and close to the surface of the skin.

Since the trauma there is noticable inflamation of the right hand ride where the vein is located, like swollen tissue around the vein.

Has been like this for a month and doesnt seem to have gotten smaller since the injury.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
Such a thickened vein can be due to Mondor’s disease or penile varicose vein. Mondor’s disease is superficial thrombophlebitis of the penis. This is an inflammatory reaction to a clot within the vein. This subsequently causes blockages and dilation of the vein. It is typically painless, but can be painful. In studies, patients were noted to have thrombophlebitis after a prolonged sexual act with or without intercourse. It was described as cord-like thickening of the superficial penile veins.

Diagnosis can be confirmed by ultrasound.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
