Well after an amazing first week on my diet and exercise regime (lost an entire kilo, 2.2 lbs) it kind of hit the fan. Lately, I've been getting sick at the drop of a hat because of my gallbladder. Which means I've had several naps this week. I hate that the first hint of me feeling ill my body just shuts down and I get so tired I can't function.
Anyway even with my lack of energy, my foods have been alright. My worst is eating out, which I did 2x but I only went past 1500 once. I also did loose another 1/2 a lb which is nice. Just frustrating because I feel like I could have done better. Still, slowly getting under that 193 and as far as I can get from it! That's all that matters I suppose. Got an apt with a dietician Monday, all my questions, food diary, weight & med info for her. Hopefully this will be worth while and answer my questions.
How has everyone else been doing?
Hi im new to this forum but I'm exited to get started with my waight loss I'm 170lb now today is my first day on my diary but I hope to have good news next week wish me luck. I hope u all have a great week too talk to u all soon.
I keep fluctuating big time .... but, overall, I think I'm eating less so the balance should become apparent soon one way or the other LOL!
Congratulations to everyone who was able to lose some weight. For those that stayed, steady - don't worry; you'll be able to start losing. If you gained a bit, try to figure out what you could have done differently, pick yourself up and start again.
Hi Barb135. I forgot to weight but I have lost a total of 14.2lbs since you've started this forum. I weight 263.6 and now weigh 249.2. If anyone wants to know what I did, just ask.
God Bless
I've been using My Diary app and love it. So much so that I compare day to day the proportion of carbs/protein, etc. and that gives me renewed energy to keep on track!
down to 207 from 210
For me it's the carbs ... the initial lack of carbs give me carb cravings, so I take a tiny amount to satisfy the craving or crunch on food like baby carrots.
I don't know what happened, but I'm up to 214.3 this week. Over the weekend I misbehaved for personal reasons, but not enough to gain 2 whole pounds... I'm sure it's water weight, but it is still a sincere slap in the face to see that number back on the scale. Ugh. Hope everyone else did better than I did.
Good morning!
Wasn't able to log in yesterday but weighed in at the same 153.5.
No weight loss as I was terrible at the end of the week and didn't eat well. However, I met my goal of three times at the gym and a class. Going to try for 4 days and a class this week. The weight loss will follow :-)
Congrats to those that've lost this week! Way to go!
Well this is my second week of keeping my food diary and watching my Calories.last Sunday I lost 1.5 lbs and this week I lost 1.5 more so down 3 lbs total so far' But I weigh 248 and have a lot more to go to get to my first goal of 180 haven't really exercised much so I'm going to pick up that Wish me Luck
Hey everyone,
Well I seem to have lost the lb I put on over Christmas. I wasn't particularly bad during that week, but hanging out in the desert for Xmas made exercise too much for me. I spent most of the week with my in laws under the A/C trying not to melt. (Although I didn't exercise much this week either as our pool was closed for painting, and it was very warm and stormy.) Anyway, at least I'm no longer going up.
I made a deal with my hubby to lower our food money allowance which has helped make sure no junk crosses our threshold. I get so much cash a fortnight to keep our house stocked with everything we need. To help stop the late night runs for sweets and snacks after gym, I now keep frozen fruit ice blocks in the freezer and made dehydrated fruit sheets. It has definitely helped both of us; prevent him from breaking, me from pushing. I also tried to fill my chocolate cravings during my monthly week with 1/4 Cup raw almonds. Unfortunately that caused a gallbladder attack O.o You think after a year of gallstones I'd have given up nuts completely.. all well.
I've got a pretty horrible pain in my leg, which I'm hoping to get checked out by the dr today. Hopefully it's a pinched nerve and not DVT or a muscular issue caused by my meds or symptoms of diabetes. The dr at the ER said it definitely needs to be ultrasound, but I don't have the emergency symptoms of a DVT and they're low on staff so he kicked me out. :/ Hopefully if it's just nerves I can go back to my yoga and swimming, otherwise I'll have to see what the dr says.
I honestly am feeling pretty confident in my diet. I'm eating a good 1450-1500 calories, I'm never hungry and always feeling satisfied. For me the hard part is just the exercise regime I need to get down to it and keep it up. I'm nervous and excited. My immediate goal is 190, which I haven't been under since I was 14 years old. Actually I'd love to get under 194, because I was bouncing from 194-197 for near 7 years. I've already lost 33 lbs, but I think the next few are going to be the hardest. Partially because I've been overweight since 7 and obese since 12, so that little dark voice is wondering if I can even loose the weight I've had for the past 10+ years. I know it's a silly notion, but it's that thought is there and I have to fight it.
I am pleased I am down 1.8 lbs. Essentially all I did was stop the Christmas gluttony! All the crap is out of my kitchen now and healther choices begin this week.
Oh, I forgot to say, I'm loosely following the Rosemary Conley hip & thigh diet - so I'm not eating anything fatty (no chocolate, biscuits, crisps, fried foods, cake, hard or high-fat cheese, etc etc). So what I've mainly been having this week has been 50g porridge made with half water, half skimmed milk + sweeteners for brekky; soup for lunch then something like salad and low-fat houmous and pittas, or veggie stew and pasta for tea (I'm vegetarian anyway). I'm a terrible cook, but I've got lots of low-fat veggie recipes lined up to try (I love Sue Kreitzman books about low-fat cooking, she's very passionate about cooking without fat and using lots of different ingredients to give dishes more flavour).
I know exactly what to do, and how much I should eat; it's just getting my head into the right place to actually do it that's usually the problem. So far so good, but hoping I don't jeopardise my efforts!
Best wishes

Hi there Barb and everyone!
Well I've been really good all week, not been particularly strict but I haven't felt tempted to secret-eat choc, crisps etc (which I was doing every day before Christmas), and I've lost 4lbs! Yay!
I hope everyone else has had a good week too. :-)
I've just started reading Winning the Fat War by Anne Diamond, which is very interesting reading so far. If you don't know already, Anne was a TV presenter in the 1990s and after having children gained weight. She had a gastric band fitted in Belgium on the cheap and basically they made a bad job of it. She had the op corrected in London and went on to get to a healthy weight through good diet and exercise (Anne says that gastric bands aren't a miracle cure, you still have to work hard to moderate your food intake). I'll share any top tips as I read the book.
Best wishes everyone!
