Sunday Weigh In

We've come back to the beginning of another week and time to start anew; however, before we move on, let's share how we did for the past week.

I hate to say it, but *I* am up again by about 0.7 lb. I'm not sure what's going on -- there were times during the week that the scale showed I'd lost about 2 lbs, but this morning it's up again, so that's the weight I had to record.

I didn't do real well with the exercise this week, as there were several days I wasn't able to come home straight from work and get started with it, so by the time I finished other things, it was time for bed.  I guess I need to just make myself do it, no matter what's going on or how tired I am.  On Thurs, I spent the entire day either driving or sitting in waiting rooms with my aunt, so exercise was completely out of the question.

I did pretty good, food wise, this week. I think most of you know that chips are my weakness.  I bought some chips with lower sodium and packed just a small amount each day, rather than stopping at the convenience store to buy regular chips, then eating the whole bag.  That satisfied my craving for chips and I didn't eat nearly as many as I would have otherwise.  I also packed some fresh cherries in a container each day -- a cup of fresh cherries has something like 70 calories.  I have another bag of cherries ready for this coming week, plus yesterday, cleaned and cut up a container of carrots and celery for each day of the week.  Now that it's ready, all I have to do is toss the container into my bag and I'm ready to go.  I'll divide the cherries in the same way.

I'm hoping that by packing these things daily and having them with  me, I will be satisfied with eating the veggies, cherries and not so many chips.  I'll see how it works out.

Okay, there's my week; and my plans for the upcoming week.

Now, let's hear about you.  Did you lose, gain, stay the same?  If you lost, let us know what you did to achieve that; if not, maybe there's something we can do to help you out.

I've read many articles about the benefits of green tea for weight loss; I tried it for a while, but wasn't "faithful", so can't say whether it "would have helped" or not.  If it helps you, it doesn't really matter if it's a "mind over matter" or not -- it's benefiting you and green tea is good for you because of the antioxidants, etc.

I'd feel like I'd done a great thing if I could drop 5 pounds in a week, so do whatever works for you, so long as it's healthy.

What about exercise?  I've been trying to do the treadmill, but life gets in the way quite often and my exercise is not going as planned.

Well, I'm kinda starting out all over again. So for me the first 5lbs was always easy for the first week. After that I will have a slowing down period. I'm focusing on just going lower and lower. Also, I don't know if this truely helps...or if it's mind over matter type of thing, but I started back up on my green tea extract vitamins again. I swear it helped me along before, and I'm thinking it's helping again.

Both my husband & I are down a pound this week. We have managed to keep with our 30 minutes a day of exercise. I am hoping to hear about a potential job this week. I am super nervous & I am praying that this goes through. We are out of money & out of time so I really need this job. I hope I am strong enough to keep with my diet during this.

Wow -- pretty impressive group we have this week.  Looks like I'm the only one who went the wrong direction.

I'm so proud of all of you.  Trudie, after the struggle you've had, it's awesome to see you finally able to get a couple pounds off and feeling like doing gardening.....

SunnyMom - you're doing great also.  Keep up the good work.

Yallolorry -- being down 2 pounds is awesome.  You've had quite a struggle as well, and it's good to hear you say you feel more positive.

Congratulations to everyone.

hi all, - I am down 2 lbs this week. I'm still 1lb more than I was when I started this whole thing back in Jan! But I do actually feel more positive, like I am starting to slim down a tiny bit and getting better at eating less.

you are all my inspiration. I'm too tired to write more today but sending encouragement to all of you.

I have lost another 2 pounds! It is getting easier and easier to ignore all the food that gets brought in to work by the generous and kind souls I work with! Also, there are a few of us that are ignoring all the goodies so that helps a lot too. And, having us ignore all the treats is having an impact because this past week there were some very healthy and good foods brought in! Yay!   As far as what I pack for my lunch I stick to very healthy choices, esp. lots of yummy fruits and veggies!

I am very happy to report that I am down 2.6 pounds!!!  The yeast diet is definitely helping - no sugar, no gluten and no yeast and a decrease in my coffee.  I'm not hungry and all the sugar and carb cravings are gone.  I really feel good, especially with the increase in my Lyrica meds.  I've been more active and today getting out and gardening.

Barb, having good food available is key.  I find I cheat more often when I don't have other things handy.

Whatawoman -- sorry about your IBS attack.  Things like that are never easy to deal with.  Congratulations on being down 0.4 lbs though -- any downward movement is what we are aiming for. I think losing 5 lbs in 8 days is a bit ambitious, but trying is 1/2 the battle.  I think it's a good idea to not weigh daily; maybe I need to try that as well.

Tigerlilly - don't forget - painting that basement is exercise also, even if different from what you normally do.  It's always good to do different things anyway.  You've done an awesome job and I don't think it's possible to stay at one weight indefinitely; as your 125 - we all fluctuate.

I'm concerned that I went up in the final tally, but the fact that I was down 2, then went up again, tells me that it might not really be all fat that's causing the issues.  That leaves fluid retention, undigested food, etc as major factors. I'm really trying to kick the salt habit -- I know that's a major issue with fluid retention.  I've now given up my sea salt and gone back to "lite" salt, which has 50% less sodium than regular table salt.

I'm up a pound from last week. I'm 126.2 and my goal is 125.0. I have not been diligent enough to get the weight off from my outing with the hubby on Wednesday. Hoping to have it off by next Wednesday.

I haven't been doing my regular exercise, instead I have been painting the basement walls instead. It has been a nice change and I'll be done tonight so I'll be able to get back outside this week. It's supposed to be nice all week. Can't wait.

Barb135 - I think your veggies and fruit to work will really help.

Whatawoman72 - I think your doing great! Maybe you can adjust your goal to 8 pounds a month. That is still very good. 2 pounds per week.

Hey Barb, I think it is great that youa re constantly evolving new ideas to make that weight go.

I am down 0.4lb -  been a weird week with a bad IBS attack -  up 3lb and down 1 and up 2 and down 1 -  but the final weekly result is down 0.4lb -

I have stopped weighing daily and will be weighing Wednesdays and Sundays..(if I can stay strong enough with that -  we are having a very hot week here in teh UK -  with temperatures 10 degrees higher than the monthly norm -  so it is lovely... but it does mean exercise at home or in the garden is exausting and the need for fluid intake is greatly increased.

I am still hoping for 10lb weight drop by 31st May for the whole month -  I was 196.6lbs on 1st May so need to be 186.6 by 31st..... today I am 191.6 so 5lb needs to come off in 8 days -  (don't see it happening but I will try lol)
