New Lifestyle and Losing Weight

Hi everyone, I'm Debbie in Canada and I've been on Weight Watchers for about 6 mos and have lost 33lbs.  It's not much but it's in the right direction - down!  I have a very long way to go and have decided it will need to be a life time change and that's okay!  I also decided to start swimming *yikes!* and rediscovered a love of swimming!  It was scary to think of me in a bathing suit (and wearing it in public!!) but I got over it (no one sees you in the pool anyway).  I'm looking forward to each new week of my new life!  I've had ups and downs with the scale over the last six months but have realized it works if you work it!  Looking forward to "talking" with others and learning new tips, suggestions and support in our journey to lose weight and become healthy!
Debbie

Wow - I don't see how you can think 33 pounds is not a lot.  I'd be thrilled to be able to get rid of 3 pounds right now.  I don't have access to a swimming pool, but would love to be able to try that.  Your motivation is fantastic and I guess if I keep at it, I'll be able to get on here one day and tell everyone that my hard work paid off too.

Be very proud of yourself!!

Hi Debbie!  Welcome to the Community. You motivated me just by writing what you did. You're doing great. Keep up the good work. Stay in touch with everyone here, these are great people and will be more than happy to encourage you. You should be so proud of yourself. Tonight from 6-8, there's going to be a Live Chat, where you can get to know people and hopefully get some questions answered. Hope to see you there!

Hi Debbie,
33 lbs is great!  I can relate to how you feel.  When you have a longer road to travel then others, it is harder to appreciate your own excellent progress.  I hope we can convince you to take pride in this and build up your self-esteem.  Bravo to getting in that pool!  I don't have access to one, but I had trouble exercising outside of my home at first.  I'd even feel self conscience at the store buying healthy food. (I felt like no one would believe that's what I was eating--silly, I know!)

Letting go of destructive internal dialog is an important step towards making those good lifestyle choices.

Here's a random tip I read in a magazine.  Do you have a camera phone?  You can use it to take pics of your meals, like a more high tech food journal.  I'm not sure that's for me, but I thought it was a novel idea.

Good luck & looking forward to seeing you around!

PS-Have you checked out the MedHelp trackers?  They have been a useful tool for me.
