Alright. Weight has always been a struggle for me. You may already know I was sick for a year and a half and lost 100 lbs. Well I gained most of it back. When my hubby left for work for 3 months starting in January, I decided I needed to get on track. I ate the bare bones. No flavour, all veggies, one fruit a day, and when I was really bad, Subway. All that plus an hour long walk /run a day then Id come home and go on the exercise bike for 2 hours (normal movie length). When I started that in January I was 180lbs. (I moved back home for this time and didnt have a scale for a year previous. The time before that when I weighed myself I was 140lbs. I got down to 170-175 when hubby came home late march. Then we had to drive across canada when we moved to Ontario. Hello fast food highway! Hubby hates food thats not greasy or that he thinks may be healthy for him so this was a huge struggle for me.

2 weekends ago I bought a scale. Going only from my motionless measuring tape prior, this was a scary thing for me. I had been trying (since april) to eat a big plate of salad and just a bit of whatever hunny was having to satisfy myself. More all fruit smoothies, and occasional (every 2 weeks) walks. To my surprize I went from 175ish-160 from April till mid June!

Since joining this forum and since my scale success, Ive been walking .5k then running 1k then cool down walk another .5k. Last night I added double the running and this morning the same as last night plus about 1/4 or running than walking. I just kept pushing myself. After all Im doing it for me. My face was beet red for about an hour afterwards from the hard running but I feel great. Thanks to this site and a bit of my own inner strength coming out, Im realizing its not about the weight, its about feeling good, keeping fit and being on track.  I really do feel good. Even knowing I dont look so hot in spandex, if anyone driving or walking by gives me the "eww glare" I wont be afraid to say, "Would you rather see a fat person running or a fat person eating, doing nothing about their weight?"

I always felt like I was letting my hubby down, being so much more fit when we met, though I didnt do it for him and would never do it for anyone but me, when I told him how much I ran this morning,he told me how proud he was of me and said, good job. That means so much and makes me keep going. Im going to continue running with my spare time and will be fit, healthy and ready for baby making fall 2010! (yay, just get rid of the tummy and get a new one! Ill be here for a while then;) )

All the best, you are all doing so great. Remember not to be scared and give up if you work so hard and gain a few pounds, muscle is heavier than fat,s o you could be gaining strength and loosing fat!

So, I am not sure to put my weight and chat in this one, or the one that ranae started.
But since I am here I will say that I have lost 2.2 pounds this week which has been a huge motivtor for me because for the last month I was GAINING a couple pounds a week. So, I had to change what I was doing. I have worked out 4 times this week, and have kept somewhat track of my calories and what not. I have been slackin about when it comes to my last meal of the day and I forget to track my water and what not. Anyway, thats what I decided to do differently and it paid off!!!!
BUT I have pretty much started back to where I was when i came here so I have a bit of work to do.

Hello Everyone!

I'm new to this forum, and just started keeping trackers for my food, weight and exercise. My first week was successful - I lost 3 pounds! I need to lose 30 pounds more, but I filled out my tracker for a short term goal this summer, about 2 pounds a week until I go on vacation. Then its back to my crazy schedule - I'm a student and teaching assistant, and adjunct instructor. Last year I gained the 30 pounds when I went back to grad school, so I'm trying to get back on track and make it continue into the new school year.. Lots of driving - 2 hours each way 3x a week.

After that intro, I want to say that I love the trackers! I had been trying to lose weight for a month, but only lost a couple of pounds. The trackers really helped me to focus. I probably ate a bit too little this week, but will try to be moderate next week. I love the graphs! I like that the exercise tracker shows all the different kinds of exercise for each day - it makes me think about lifestyle and how to improve my quality of exercise in a way that will be fun. The food diary is great - its so much easier to keep track when it does the math for me. I do wish I could see more of the cumulative information on all the other info - like calcium. Is there any way to see the totals for the day or week?

I am very glad to have found this forum, as I want to keep my motivation high. One week is great, but I didn't go out to eat this week, and that is always my challenge! Greetings everyone!

This week my weight was up and down and I had some emotional eating challenges but got right back on track.  He was very happy to see a fantastic drop this morning and wonder if getting sufficient sleep made the big difference.  Very happy that the food diary is helping!
