Yes, speaking of vacation mode, we've moved to the family farm for the last remaining week or two before school begins. There is no scale, and I forgot to pack ours up. (It is ever thus! lol)
I'd guess from the last time I weighed (which was Friday) that I'm the same weight as last Sunday. That wasn't bad. We haven't been pigging out, so probably it's stayed pretty level.
Our new kitten is driving the adult cats crazy, but at least they're merely a little annoyed and not hissing and slashing. The prima donna is our spayed female, Sprocket. She can. not. stand. other females, but likes males (including two awful non-neutered stranger cats at our last house who would spray on our door to impress her). So we got a male kitten at the Humane Society, figuring she might accept a boy even if he doesn't have his bits. And though he's neutered and obviously doesn't have the (evidently intoxicating to her) scent of male spray, she's being pretty calm about his advent, so the theory seems to have worked. Our other cat, Brubeck, is basically hiding in a basket on top of the fridge. Whenever the kitten does something rowdy or prance through the room, up pops Bru's head over the edge of the basket like a periscope, to watch, and then down it goes again. This is all pretty good for the first 24 hours of being exposed to each other. Fortunately, Dashi is mellow and playful, unconcerned if Sprocket bops him on the head as he walks by her chair. He must have had a lot of siblings.
Went for an expensive dinner at a restaurant near our new home the other night. The food was so bad and the noise was so loud that I wound up writing a 2-out-of-5- star review on Yelp. I've never been moved to do that before. But for $140 bucks, you would expect it to be great. So much for "fine dining" in our new neighborhood. The expensive places we've tried just haven't been good enough to be that expensive, and there are plenty of good middle-of-the-road restaurants to fill the gap.
Have a great week!
