Sunday Weigh in October 29, 2023

Good morning, everyone.  Although I know some parts of the country are having cold weather already, it's a gorgeous day here.  I've been out for my morning walk and believe it or not, I'm actually feeling half way decent today - at least right now!!

This week wasn't so terribly busy, so I got some things done around the house and yard - though not nearly as much as I should have gotten done.   It was kind of nice to be able to relax a little bit, as well, after it being so hectic for a couple of weeks prior.

I think my medication changes - increase in thyroid med and change in neuropathy med - are starting to make a difference.  I actually sat down in my recliner the other day, thinking I might take a nap and was not tired enough to go to sleep!!  That's a first in a loooong time.   I think the cooler weather is helping some, as well.

AND, last but not least, I've lost 2 pounds this week, so that makes me feel awesome!!  So I saw my doctor on October 7 and since then, I've lost 6 lbs, which is awesome considering how hard I've been trying.  Of course, it's not like you can look at me and go "oh, Barb, you're really loosing weight and looking so good"... no, 6 lbs is a drop in the bucket compared to what I *need* to lose, but it's 6 lbs and an encouraging start.  I may do some bouncing around, depending on fluid retention, etc but that's okay, as long as the scale keeps going in a downward direction!!

Anyway, that's where I am.  I hope everyone else is doing well, also and were able to meet your goals.

~~Wishing everyone wonderful, successful week~~

Barb, that is such good news! I hope the new meds and dosages continue to improve your life, it's nice that your doctor finally got his act together on this.

I'm down a pound, 1.1 to be exact, probably due to being a bit more mindful about what I eat and when. I've heard that when people eat habitually and stop doing so, they might pop into another compulsive habit, like shopping. After searching for something to wear to my mom's memorial service and now having a bedroom loaded with things to return, I hope I wasn't trading one bad habit for another.  :-)

We had masses of rain early last week that caused leaf clogs and massively overflowing downspouts down the sides of our our house. We had them serviced today by a guy with some fancy equipent and a long, long ladder. He also cleaned out our dryer vent, which likewise requires a long, long ladder. (Our house sits lengthwise on the slope of a hill. Apparently the builder decided that everything that takes servicing by a guy on a ladder should be on the 3-storey side of the house.) I wasn't keen on the hassle of calling and getting him over here, but now it feels good that the work is done. Hearing buckets of rainwater pour down the siding from an overflowing downspout during a storm is bad enough, but I'm REALLY down on dryer vents with lint in them. Fire and mold hazards, if you ask me.

After the deluges, the weather turned very pretty this week, though cold at night. We've been busy, and our son seems to be finding his feet socially a bit more at school, which makes him feel more cheerful (less like an outsider). And Pilates continues to go acceptably, which may be helping me stay mindful about keeping the weight off. I think I'm getting more toned, in any case. This week, I go to apply for a new passport, and then face returning all those memorial-service wannabe garments that didn't work out. I like returning less than shopping, but do enjoy seeing my Visa balance get less rather than more.

Have a great week!
