my favorite go to snacks are fruits, sorry i'm not a raw veggie eater, if i have to eat them it needs to be steamed, but thats just me. I also like this one protein shakes i get from my nutrionist, it comes in a bottle with powder in it already and you just add water and shake it. And it actually tastes delicious, almost like a chocolate shake, i throw mine in the freezer for a few minutes after i mix it up to get it tasting like a shake. I also like laughing cow cheese with some wheat thins. But remember like mentioned above to track your calories. Oh, almost forgot, I like to have nuts or beef jerkey as a snack too
Forgot to mention -- get plenty of exercise; since you work in a child care center, you should have ample opportunity to move around; if not, create it. Instead of sitting and watching the children play, go play with them....... sometimes, it's good to bring out our "inner child".... LOL
I agree that fresh fruits and veggies are the best, and easiest. Take along container of grapes, carrot/celery sticks, bell pepper sticks, etc....... these are very low calorie, have lots of vitamins/minerals, etc...... apples are awesome; try apple slices with a bit of low fat peanut butter....yum...... Nuts are good too, because they have "good" (monounsaturated) fats, but because they have a lot of fat, you need to limit them
Drink lots of water......
Raisins are a great snack. Or small amounts of nuts. Hummus and vegetables (carrot and cucumber sticks are great with hummus). If you're worried about the fat content of hummus you can always get low fat stuff, but all the fat in hummus is the good fats anyway.
I also recently discovered Ryvita. You can put pretty much anything on them and they become a fantastic snack, and they've got a great range of different types now. I think the last ones I had, had sweet onion in - lovely. Low fat philadelphia is amazing on them, or for a very low fat choice, marmite is good. But as I said, pretty much anything works with them.
Fresh fruits and veggies are always good - and easy as most don't need much preparation and do not to be refrigerated and are totally natural.
Low fat string cheese
small amt of peanut butter
Just remember to track your calories - honestly. Good luck.
