cellulite

i have some questions about cellulite. i'm 22 and i have terrible cellulite all over my thighs and i'm not that heavy. i know its genetic and my mother has absolutely terrible cellulite and shes not that heavy either. i dont want my leg to end up looking as bad as hers. i heard that once you have it you have it and cant get rid of it. is that true? is there at least anyway to reduce it significantly or at all? does toning exercising help to get rid of it? i heard it doesnt have an effect because the fat is still sitting on top of the muscle. i dont really believe the creams or messaging works, but then again i havent tried. exercise and good diet seemed like the best bet, but is that even going to help?

Exercise is the best way to remove cellulite. Do some exercise like squats, swimming, cycling etc. Go for some cellulite massage. Massage helps to tone your body.

Here's some additional information from the National Institutes of Health ...

Definition

Cellulite is fat that is deposited in pockets just below the surface of the skin. It occurs around the hips, thighs, and buttocks. Because it is very close to the surface of the skin, cellulite leads to a dimpled appearance.

Information

Cellulite may be more visible than fat deeper in the body. Even thin people can have cellulite, because we all have layers of fat just below the surface of the skin. Collagen fibers that connect fat to the skin may stretch, break down, or pull tight, allowing the fat cells to bulge out. This creates the rippled look of cellulite.

Your genes may play a part in whether or not you have cellulite. A poor diet, "fad" dieting, a slow metabolism, hormone changes, and even dehydration may play a role. A great deal of money is spent by people who want to rid themselves of cellulite, but no amount of weight loss, exercise, massages, wraps, creams, supplements, or surgery has proven to effectively eliminate it once you have it. Liposuction, for instance, is not recommended for cellulite, and may even make it look worse.

Although many dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons recognize cellulite as a legitimate problem that patients seek to have them "cure," most of the medical community doesn't view cellulite as a disorder. Instead, it is considered a normal condition of many women and some men.

Tips for avoiding cellulite include:

Eating a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and fiber
Staying hydrated with plenty of fluids
Exercising regularly to keep muscles toned and bones strong
Maintaining a healthy weight (no yo-yo dieting)
Not smoking

I did some researching on cellulite and found this online.
Hope the following information helps. If you have any more questions please let us know and we will be more than happy to help you :)

Cellulite is fat. Period. Cellulite is simply a term used by scientists to describe that cottage cheesy stuff that you often find on your thighs, butt, and hips. Women typically have cellulite because their adipose tissue is structured differently from men. As we gain weight, our fat cells swell while our connective tissue stays the same, thereby causing that lovely dimpling effect we all love to hate.

So, can you get rid of it? Since cellulite is fat, there are NO MAGICAL SOLUTIONS to get rid of it. If you reduce the SIZE of your fat cells, you can reduce the cottage cheese look. This is best accomplished with diet and exercise (ugh). Note: body wraps, toning lotions, electrical muscle stimulation, herbal remedies and other quick fix solutions you see on TV and in magazines DO NOT WORK! Any effects are temporary, so save your money and realize that even the fittest folks have cellulite. That's why they have this magical thing called airbrushing.
