Sunday Weigh In - May 1, 2011

Another week gone by!!  Hope everyone had a lovely Easter and didn't raid the kids' Easter baskets!!

My week wasn't bad, but my weight jumped around a lot again; over the course of the week, I ranged from a low of 143 to a high of 148; sitting at 147, this morning, so that's what I'll go with for my weigh in.  That's down 0.4 lbs from last week............. I'll take that as "success".

Part of my problem last week, was work -- some days, I didn't have time to stop for lunch at all; others, I had to hit the nearest drive through, and while I tried to make "better" choices, we all know that none of them are actually "good"!!  What "did" help me, though was that I had to do a lot of work with bottled water, which meant loading/unloading/carrying a lot of cases........ this means tons of "weight lifting" (each case is slightly over 26 lbs), along with a lot of walking, bending, stretching, etc.

We went out to eat last night at a buffet restaurant, and of course, I over indulged; will have to watch it for today.  I restocked the fridge yesterday with lettuce and fresh veggies, so will boil some eggs and make a few salads this evening and have them ready to toss into my bag over the coming week.  That will help keep me away from the drive thru.  I also picked up some cans of sodium free soups, for those days that I happen to be near a microwave; soup and salad should make a pretty tasty lunch!!  I also have a very busy week ahead, so "exercise" will be plentiful.

I think I'm pretty well ready for the week - at least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it (LOL)........ on that note, I have to go mow the lawn before it gets too hot - and hope to do some gardening, as well; that will be my exercise for today, along with walking to the neighbors.

Here's hoping that everyone had a wonderful, successful week, and that this week is even better.  If you have any issues you need help with, just let us know, we'll do what we can to help out.

Remember:  there are no failures; only setbacks.

Have a great week.............

Hello all!
Congrats to both of you on the weight loss.  I didn't lose any weight but I didn't gain any weight so that's good.  My eating habits over the past weight was okay but it got worse on the week went on.   With the threat of tornados in my area I didn't get to the gym.  But I could have worked out at home.  I have 2 Jillian Michaels' workout dvds so there is no excuse for me to not have worked out.  Oh well it's a new month and a new day so hopefully I'll get on track.

Hope you guys have a great week.!!!

Giggles -- you're doing so great; I wish I could lose whether I'm "good" or not!!  Keep up the good work.

Matt - we all set back once in a while, and as long as you didn't gain anything, I'd say not exercising at home is excusable, because of the circumstances you were under with the tornadoes, etc.  I do hope you came through all that with everything intact.

I'm down 1.6 and very impressed at the loss considering I attended a family girls party yesterday where 20 women brought desserts and we got high on sugar!

May I come back?  I have to do something...I am up 15 pounds after losing about 65 lbs starting almost 5 years ago.  I have tons of excuses, but fortunately, I also know how to do this....again, grrrrrr.

*IF* I learned anything along the way, I learned that accountability is key and so is a food diary.  I won't take the time to boot up my puter every time I eat, so a paper and pen journal will work for me.

I increased my exercise in the past 2 weeks, but couldn't remember 2 weeks ago, so only added last weeks exercise  to my tracker.  I did not lose a pound in the past week, but probably because my intensity level is not where it used to be.  Every step I take is excruciating, but I am desperate NOT to be over 200lbs again.

My current goal is for 1.5 lbs/week for the next 5 weeks.  I chose that because I am taking a business trip and it gives me something to shoot for.

So, to sum up, my starting weight is 154.  My short goal is 146.5 and eventual goal is 140.

Will wonders never cease??  Of course you can come back - welcome; we miss having you around..........

So sorry about your gain and tough times.  I think 1.5 lbs/week is absolutely reasonable; how can we help you achieve it?

I fully understand not being able to fire up the 'puter every time you eat - I keep track of my food via pen and paper, as well - when I keep track of it........

Best of luck to you; good to have you back.

Hi Barb!  Thanks for the warm welcome.

I appreciated your comment/question: "I think 1.5 lbs/week is absolutely reasonable; how can we help you achieve it?"

You didn't realize that a thoughtful gesture like that got me to thinking ALL DAY and past my bedtime like NOW (I get up at 3:55a.m.!).  So, I added a few more things for this week that I need to do.

Besides keeping a food journal and being accountable by posting on here, I need to drink more water than I've been drinking, and make sure I eat 3 servings (or 4) per day.

If I do these things, I believe I can reach my short-term and eventual goals.  I am not so focused on WHEN as just on reaching them.  Thanks!
