Period stops during cycle, then restarts

I am concerned about whether or not it is normal that my period stops and starts during my cycle. So for example I get my period and bleed for about 3 days, then it often stops for up to a day, and then continues for another 2 days. This happens more often when I am on the pill but has continued to happen now that I am off the pill. I am concerned that there is something wrong since I have never heard of that happening to anyone else..

mine is exactly like that. for the past two months, mine has started then stopped about 3 days in for over 24hours and then just restarts again until the week is over. I am wondering what this could mean. I know I am not pregnant, and this type irregularity has never happened to me in the past. I've had skipped periods for lengths of time (up to 10 months before) and late periods (about 2-3 weeks late) but now I am not sure what is really happening. just wondering if I should see a doctor for this issue..
