I've looked inside and out and No cherries.  I WAS born with a hymen that was broken during my first sexual intercourse.  The hymen is a small piece of membrane that is inside the vagina.  Often broken (much less dramatic than it sounds or is portrayed) during sex but can also be broken during tampon insertion or fingering.  Nothing pops.  No cherries.  Just a membrane that opens.  And losing one's virginity is the first time you have sexual intercourse whether your hymen is still intact and breaks or not.  good luck
