Irregular Period

I am 30 years old and have been on the mini pill for about 6 months. This month when it was time to start my period I experienced a sharp pain that radiated from my cervix up to the middle of my uterus. It was so bad I couldn't walk or sit down. It went away after about a day. I have spotted dark brown blood very lightly for the past three days and now it stopped. Any suggestions what it could be?

Hello,

This sharp pain close to periods can be due to pelvic inflammatory disease, fibroids, endometriosis (abnormality of lining of uterus), pelvic tumors, and intra uterine device (like copper-T but less likely in your case. You should consult gynecologist for internal examination and other test needed to detect it's cause if the repeat happens.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
