bleeding after depo

I was on the depo for at least 2 years and was happily period free. Then I miss an appointment and was off depo for about 1 yr. and a half. This year I decided to go back on it since it worked so well the last time and i wanted to stop playing Russian roulette with a third pregnancy! So I got the shot during my period and everything was fine until my other monthly cycle came and now it doesn't want to leave! Its going to be a full 2 weeks. That's not normal, what happened to the 'no period, no pads' days that I was expecting? Now i wear a regular pad with wings EVERYDAY!

As the first post states it may take a while to readjust as you have been off of depo for do long and your hormones have changed since before. They say it can take up to a year to regulate. For now I would not worry. You may drop done to minimal breakthrough bleeding that is brown in color due to it taking a little longer to expel. If you find that your body no longer tolerates the depo shot you can consider switching to the pill or possibly more a since you are not wanting a third pregnancy right now.

It might take your body a bit to re-adjust to it because you were off it for some time. If after a month you are still bleeding heavily then I would go back to the doctor.
