Vulvodynia
Does anyone else suffer from vulvodynia. I am begining to think that I have it. Every test comes back negative, every examination looks normal, but I am in pain. I cannot have sex. Entry of any object in my vagina is complete and utter pain. I am looking for support groups does anyone know of any?
I actually have been on that website numerous times, it actually led me to my realization that it could be something like vulvodynia. I was so insecure about myself and I went through countless testing and rounds of antibiotics. I actually never got diagnosed with it because most of the specialists do not accept insurance, and even if I did spend the money which was ridiculous amounts of money. It was guaranteed to be cured, or even diagnosed properly. It's just something that very little people know about and it's hard to diagnose. The internet was actually the only place I found info on this my gyencologist knew very little about it. I went through 6 months of agonizing pain, sex, urination, constant burning. And I kept a pain journal. The painful urinating and burning went away but the sex part was consistently painful. I felt inadequate and I felt horrible. It tested my relationship a lot. I was really depressed. I gained weight then lost it, then gained it back. I just decided to take baby steps in the bedroom, and eventually the pain dissipated. There are days where I can't have sex and it hurts but most days I can and it's gotten a lot better. But with this disease it can go and come as it pleases. So to say im cured is a long shot, right now I am healed.
Have you seen a doctor or got a diagnosis? I too am starting to think that I have vulvodynia. I have found lots of info and support groups on line. One of those is NVA.ORG. There are lots out there. I'm trying to not read too much on the internet because it is scaring me to death. I'm trying to stay positive, but it's difficult at this point. I'd love to hear how you are doing.
It sounds like vulvodynia...youll need to see a really good gyne for them to diagnose you...i have some sort of irritable vulval syndrome, rather than vulvodynia, and it was my doctor who suggested it.....the gyne had absolutely no idea what it could be...didnt even suggest anything....and shes the specialist!
But i know for vulvodynia, certain points that are touched even gently on the vulva can cause a lot of pain....i saw it on a programme once and the gyne was like top of the lot and he suggested using an anaesthetic cream for sex...so even tho it would dull the pleasure you get, you wouldnt be in so much pain. Tho i would speak to a doctor before trying it.
aqueous cream can help soothe for after sex.
