Why does my arm hurt?

I've been having an intense aching pain in my arm. Reminds me of when I was a kid and had growing pains, but I think I'm done growing. Usually limited to my forearm, shoulder and hip joints. The painful to move it. The pain is sometimes relived by just keeping it close to my body. It's kept me awake at night a few times. There has been no swelling, I haven't injured myself and it's not caused by strain. Starts around night and lasts 2 days before it goes away. There's either a week or a few days between the episodes. I am 16, and I would appreciate if someone could tell me what's going on?
