Wild yam cream reaction on vulva - hyperplasia?

I applied some cream on my perineum that had 14% wild yam extract. A few days later, everything is "inflated". The thin skin flaps at the entry of the vagina (I think what used to be the hymen) are now big pea-sized bulges and long fat fingerlike projections - everything seems like it had a Hollywood style collagen injection. Not in a good way either, it looks scary. What is happening? Is it temporary?

I think you might be right - it has gotten back to normal now and I tossed the cream. Phew.
Thanks for your help!!

I'm sure it's temporary, unless you keep putting wild yam cream on.

It sounds like an allergic reaction, and it might not be to the estrogen in the yams but to the junk in the cream.  I'd just try a lot of baths, and toss the darn cream in the trash.

Hyperplasia is an overgrowth of new cells on top of what was there.  What you've got is swelling of what was there already.
