vaginal bump

i just discovered this semi-hard bump right on the outside edge of the lips of my vagina. it might have been there yesterday but i just discovered it right after i went to the bathroom. its not a huge bump but not small either. im scared. i told my dad since my mom's on a trip and he said that he would call the gynocologist in a week, just to see if it goes away. im supposed to start my period again in about 5-6 days. i dont know what this is and im scared. does anyone know what it might be?

i had that like in late janurary to feb...im 21 and i went to my gyn and he said its either a cist, or a hair bump (it was at the very top, almost near my lower abdomenom, but it was down there still), any way because my doctor could clearly see that i had been tampering with it by washing over it giving it extra attention he told me to take ALOT of hot warm baths, it stayed for about 3 days then dissapeared, it was flat...then it went away completly but i can still see the mark, lol its funny now because no matter what he said i was so anxious for it to go away that even though i took the hot baths, it wasnt moving fast enough for me, so if i look real hard i still see the mark, from me constantly washing and scrubbing. So LEAVE IT ALONE...and take warm baths, drink lots of water...and use Summer's Eve feminine wash "for sensitive skin" since it is very sensitive down there...

Some other possibilities include ingrown hair or pimple. Or it could also be a genital wart, although most often they appear in clusters, and they usually start out flat. Are you sexually active?

One such possibility is that it could be a Bartholin's gland infection. The openings for the the two such glands are just inside the inner lips toward the bottom. But the glands themselves are buried deep just outside the outer lips. That's where you will find a tender bump if one of them gets infected and swells up. You can check out images on Google to see what the condition looks like. Sitting in a warm bath can help them drain.  Good luck.
