I do it too!!! I have no idea why. My husband has caught me doing this and tries to tell me to lay down. I feel horrible in the morning. Anyone find a way to stop? I intentionally try to fall asleep on my side or back. But I always end up propped up with my head hanging down—not even touching the pillow
I do it all the time and have been doing it for 30 years. Figured out it's because I wake up for so many different reasons all night long and instead of actually sitting up each time, i prop my head up. It helps with heartburn/reflux, muscle pain in different areas, and if I wake up from a nightmare and have a short period of sleep paralysis I tend to prop my head up to try and stay awake for a little while.
thank God I thought I was the only one it's been happening to me for quite a few months now ever since my sister passed away at an early age I wonder if it's a manifestation of my fear of going to sleep and not waking up
I just did an experiment. I went into the bedroom, got on my stomach, up on my elbows, and noticed how good the lower part of my back felt. It was wonderful! Maybe our bodies are trying to tell us something.
It happens to me also. Not every night, but seven times so far this year.
I wonder why we do it?
