Sunday Weigh in July 30, 2023

Good morning.  How is everyone doing this morning.  It looks like it's going to be another hot day.  I hope you're not still getting caught in the heat wave.  We're getting rain some days, which does help cool it down but as soon as the sun comes out, it's like a sauna (or steam bath).

It's been pretty quiet in my world this past week.  I did get the stitches out of my hand/arm on Friday.  The incisions near my elbow are looking really good (though each of them has a stitch that "got lost").  I'm supposed to massage the areas and hopefully, the stitches will come out on their own.  The incision on my palm looks kind of ugly yet, but it's healing nicely.  Anyway, that's done and I'm at the point at which I can do whatever I want, as long as it doesn't cause pain.  You know - the old:  "If it hurts don't do that!!"

After I got the stitches out on Friday, I even came home and did part of my mowing - quite a chore, that was!!    Yesterday, I spent the day scrapbooking with the calligraphy guild.  All the photos we take at meetings or events are put into scrapbooks, but the person we had doing that quit, so it got pretty far behind.  We spent a few hours last month and now most of yesterday trying to catch up.  Yesterday, alone, we took care of 19 months of photos and we still have all of our past season to do yet - that would be the last half of 2022 and the first half of 2023.  Anyway, it's nice to start getting it caught up.

Tomorrow, I have an appointment to get a film lasered off my eyes.  The film is something that happens after cataract surgery and causes halos around lights, etc.   I had it, originally, scheduled for April, but ended up having to reschedule because of a conflict.  Even calling weeks ahead to reschedule, the soonest I could get in was July.   Anyway, that will be done and all I'll have left is my mammogram on Aug 4.  Maybe then, I can get back to normal, even though no one has found (or looked too hard for) the reason I stay so tired all the time.   Sitting quietly is a definite call to sleep.  :-)

I haven't been very faithful about recording my weight for the past month - mostly, because I've been pretty discouraged with it.  So - last week saw me at my all time (ever) highest weight.  Grrr!!   Yesterday, I was down 4 pounds from last week and this morning, I'm back up 2 pounds from yesterday.   Gaining/losing that much weight in such a short time "has" to be fluid (there were a couple of days my toes looked like little sausages).   Not being able to (or feeling like) getting out and doing things, leaves me sitting at my desk a lot more, working on calligraphy and other projects.   Although it's good to be creative, that creativity isn't necessarily good for my hips and butt.

Because of the intensive heat, it's not safe to try to get out and walk, which is my favorite type of exercise, so I'm going to have to be more diligent about doing some sort of indoor exercise every day.  There's also the possibility that being engaged in more physical activity will help with my tiredness, though it started when I "was" being physically active... we'll see.

All that said, I'll take a 2 pound loss for the week and try to do a better job of cutting back on food intake, plus recording my weight.

So, that's my life in a nutshell.  How was your week?  I hope it was good and that you were able to achieve your goal(s).

~~Wishing everyone a wonderful, successful week~~

I'm at the same weight as last week. This is acceptable only because we went out to a huge dinner at an Italian restaurant last night -- I assume I might be down a bit if we hadn't. My sister is in town from Wisconsin, and we were celebrating seeing her.

It's been a busy week, but I've gotten my Pilates classes in. I probably will increase them from two days a week to three or four once I'm accustomed to the moves -- things like what the "Child pose" is and the "Pilates V," and exactly which muscles the leader is talking about when she tells us to clench them. I learn a lot by peeking at what other people are doing.

This week my son is starting running practice for cross-country. It should be interesting since his only form of exercise up to now has been long-distance cycling. With my husband a 6-day-a-week yoga stalwart, we're all on a bit of an exercise kick.

I hope everyone is making it through the heat and doing well this week!

Not sure how I missed this post.   I think staying the same is actually a good thing when you have visitors because we tend to eat more/differently and most of us would tend to gain weight.  The fact that you stayed the same indicates that you're doing something right.

You're really doing well with the Pilates classes.  I've never been big on which muscles are which, either, so would definitely have to watch other members in order to get it right.  :-)

Oh your son might be in for quite a jolt taking on cross country, but it will be interesting.   I didn't know your husband was into yoga.  Other than walking, yoga is one of my favorite forms of exercise.   I keep saying I need to get back into it, but it's easier said than done (for me).
