So I'm not the ONLY one that used to take off her ugly Galoshes and hide them, eh Pat?
I don't remember mine being brown...or having a bunch of buckles...BUT...I do remember HATING those ugly things....I had to walk a few blocks to school, so I'd get past our house where I knew my Mom couldn't "see" me anymore....and find a good bush to hide them in. Amazingly enough, they were always still there when I got out of school.
We only got 2 pairs of shoes a year; one pair of school shoes, one dress.
My Mom was a "stickler" about QUALITY shoes...and how important they were...so with 6 of us kids....that could add up to A LOT Of moola in those days. We HAD to protect those "good shoes" with those ugly Galoshes!!
And yep....I DID put playing cards on my bike! I rode my bike A LOT just to be "away" from the house. I thought it was pretty cool.....closest I ever got to sounding like I had an engine...LOL
Parachute pants, now there's some American style. The 5 buckle boots look so good with parachute pants. Even good things must end.
Mcgruff the crime dig!

Oh i HATED those 5 buckle boots. They were the most hidious thing EVER! Mom always said they protected our shoes and shoes were expensive and i wasnt getting a new pair till school started..blah blah blah. I think she hated me!!! lol
Did you ever put playing cards in your bike spokes? That clicking now would make me push some sorry sap right off their bike!! lol
Thats what I would have written...used to run around Houston barefoot with my brother until it was time for dinner.
