Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your methadone taper!! Here's a really good article about RLS. It has A LOT of tips that you may be interested in trying.

Taking VERY hot baths with Epsom salts will be beneficial as you really need the magnesium. The baths will also help pull toxins from you. Many people take MULTIPLE baths throughout the day because they help so much for many aspects of withdrawal. They also make a drink called "Natural Calm". It's a "fruity, effervescent drink that promotes healthy magnesium levels and balances calcium intake-helping you to feel less stressed and more relaxed....Calcium is needed for blood clotting, but magnesium keeps the blood flowing freely." There is also a magnesium oil (I found mine at a health food store) that you can massage into your legs (or back, wherever you need pain relief.) Eating some foods high in potassium will help as well. Foods like avocados, bananas, sweet potatoes and tomatoes. Make sure you are drinking LOTS of pure water. Getting some mild exercise like short walks helps too. A homeopathic med that isn't mentioned in that article I referenced above is Hyland's Restful Legs. Hyland's makes quite a few products for RLS now: Hyland's Leg Cramps PM, Hyland's Leg Cramps Ointment, etc. You can find Hyland's products at Walmart, Walgreens, etc.
You can wrap your legs in hot towels straight out of the dryer. Other wrapping techniques are mentioned in that article.
You're getting down to the most difficult part of a methadone taper. At least that what some of the experts on the subject say. It is suggested once you hit 25 mg, you should make the reductions as slow as you can. Make a cut; let your body adjust; then make the next cut in milligrams.
Hope this information helps you. Doing a search for old posts by typing in RLS or Methadone Tapers/Withdrawal in the search bar at the top of this forum would bring up additional tips that may help you. Makes for some good reading when you can't sleep! LOL
Let us know how you're doing, ok?
