whats the least expensive outpatient detox?

First time I drank I was in eighth grade. I passed out and had alcohol poisining didn't drink again for three years. I am now 29 and have been drinking on and off for about five years. At 24 I started drinking everyday. I was drinkin everyday and hidding it. I got married at 26 and got pregnant on our honeymoon. I had stop drinking about a week and a half before I found out I was pregnant because it was making me sick. About 3-4 month after having her I could hardly wait anymore for another drink! I fell back into my old habits once again. I would hide the amount I was consuming once again. I really don't think I can do it on my own. Its really effecting my health my hair is falling out I have terrible night sweats, my hands are swollen when I drink causing arthritis in my small joints the list goes on. I slowed down for a few days. I got really shakey, I had heart palpitations, jittery. I have lorazapam for anxiety so I used that at night to help with sleep. But feel like I need more help.  I have to get well for myself so I can be a better mother. The sooner the better!  So my question is where can I go for a quick detox? My husband supports it.  I don't want to take my husband away from his work obligations. I feel so guilty that I need help. So sometimes justify putting it off. I haven't told my doctor because I don't want it in my file. I have had so many BAD experiences with doctors here in Utah. Take one look at your chart and see you were and alcoholic.....I don't know what to do anymore. Any suggestions are welcome

I've been in AA since Sept. 1982 and haven't had a drink since my first meeting. So, I've heard your story before, many many times. Just different people, of all walks of life. Alcohol is cunning, baffling and powerful. It's the meanest drug of them all, and it's available to anyone. Alcoholism is a mental obsession with a fatal progression.

You need to save your life. From what I just read, you possess the willingness to do something about your drinking and drugging.  That's all it takes, willingness. Don't be afraid to tell your Doctor. But if you are, your nearest hospital might be a good place to start, especially the next time you get really bad. Head for the ER. They pretty-much can't turn you away, and they will at least safely detox and dry you out from both benzo and alcohol. Or go on-line and search detox ctrs., even the Salvation Army.  They're famous for their treatment centers. Do SOMETHING!  Right now you're filled with willingness, go with it!

Once you're detoxed,  then it's time for the nearest AA meeting.  I'm here to say it works. It REALLY works. I'm alive. I wouldn't be if I, myself, hadn't detoxed and gone to AA. I simply kept going. I dragged my body to the meetings and my mind slowly followed. I don't know when the compulsion to drink left me, but I was completely amazed how quickly it worked. And it's so simple. I don't know why I didn't do it years before. I owe my life to a bunch of drunks, no different than you and me. They helped me, and I in turn, help others. So, you're actually helping me stay sober, by writing what you wrote.

Give yourself a fighting chance.

It is a must to do inpatient detox with alcohol and benzos.  You could die if you keep taking them and you could die if you detox too quickly at home without professional help.  It also may not be a quick detox.  I'm not trying to be the one to give bad news, but benzo wd is not a quick fix. I have done it!

My suggestion, the one that I want you to really see and think about is to do something fast.  Don't keep justifying and putting it off for "whatever" reason!!!  You certainly could die!

Best wishes to you!
