You can also check into AA meetings. I know AA has to do more with alcohol but it's not  so much about the substance as it is about addiction. Many members here go to AA even though their problem is with abusing narcotics. Part of this is that there are just more AA meetings out there so they are easier to find.

Here's a link to locate AA meetings in your area......

Call your doctor and have a heart to heart with him.  Then either you call the pharmacy or have your doctor do it.  The more people you have on board the better off you will be.  bmdad gave you a link so you can find meetings in your area.  Keep us posted on how you are doing~~~~~~sara

The first two posters here are giving great advice. I love this place, and the wonderful people who are helping others. Good point about being honest with the doctor.

oxys are the hardest drug imaginable to get off of by yourself without a detox...most people would call oxys synthetic heroin to be blunt.  if your trying to get off the stuff and your completely serious about it, you need to detox yourself completely...most likely in in patient care.

My brother is a heroin addict, and has been for years and years.  He's tried quitting so many times, and he hates the stuff, but he can't quit because of the withdrawal symptoms.  His withdrawal symptoms had lasted over a year at one point..a point when we thought things would finally fall back into place...

What I'm trying to say is, when you get addicted to a drug like this, you are more than likely going to need more than a little counseling to cope.

Withdrawal symptoms are horrible.  worse than the flu.  vomitting, diarrhea, headaches...not a fun time.

but, i hope you can get through it, along with anyone else that has the same problem.  I'm not trying to worry or upset you, I'm just trying to tell you it's a hard path...maybe one of the hardest when it comes to addictions.

Here's a link where you can punch in your zip code and it will list the closest meetings.

If you want to cancel a script just call the pharmacy and ask them to cancel it. I would also recommend coming clean with your doctor in order to help prevent the chance of relapse. It can be all too easy to walk right back in to your doctor and ask for a refill due to pain. If he/she knows you have a problem it will make it more difficult to have him prescribe anything. The more you do to make it harder to get pain meds the higher the odds are of you staying in recovery.
