2ND DAY OFF SUBOXONE!

Today is my 2nd day off suboxone. I dealt with opiate dependancies for 8 years now. To where i would take anything I could get my hands on. up to 20 pills a day wasn't enough for me anymore. my family knew I needed help. My old family doctoc has a shared outpatient office with another docter called Recovery Concepts. It was great the first day i went in i knew i was in good care with my doctor. I was immediatly put on 16 mg. a day after the first pill I felt better than ever. I felt like myself... I was a better mother, and wife. I have no insurace and have been dealing with the devil to get it. Because of Custody issues with my husband and I. I can't get on Medicaid. My doc already has the amount of patients for the prescription assistance program. Last week I told my cousler this is the last week I can afford the medicine. I was (actually my mother) paying 160 a week. She couldn't afford it any longer. I asked if they could explane how to taper off. I was told to act as if nothing was going to change and come in next week as usual. Well Something has. I can't get any assistance or insurance. So here I am Day 2 with no Suboxone. Yesterday was okay. But today i started the coldsweats/chills. and mild headaches. The coldsweats are on and off. My legs cramp a little but not to the extreme.  I was only on Suboxone for 21/2 mos. I hope the WD aren't going to get worse. I felt helpless today could do nothing but cry and keep changing clothes. I'm staying with my parents right now since I live next to them anyways so that I have help with the kids. My mother has given me Melatonin to help me sleep. Can anyone please give me some advice. Am I going to get back to normal? Will I have to find another way to get back on Suboxone if I get the help? I'm affraid I wasn't on it as long as I should have been? Please I'm begging!

Please tell me you didnt stop from a 16mg dose? If so start again and taper down to at least 1 mg everyday or even every other day. A 16mg w/d off subo is the same as about 200 mg oxy per day. It will be absolute hell.

Like other have said, you should be down to at least less than 1mg a day to stop. What are your choices? Any chance of getting back on Sub for a taper? Because of the long half-life, the worst of the withdrawals will take 5 days or so.

welcome to the forum i detoxed off sub several years ago, let me know if you need anything
i am glad you are getting off this medication, i too went through a custody issue, the judge refused visits because i was on the sub
that was a long time ago for me but i remember the detox like it was yesterday

I have been on subs for 4 mnths I am down to a very sm peice a day how should I feel if I stop doing them

I have not taken sub, but wanted to welcome you...Maybe if you post on the addiction side, you will get alot more advice....I am so sorry you are going through this...Praying for you...

I'm sorry, but I'm going to disagree with Marina. If you have just stopped Suboxone at 16mgs a day, you're in for a ruff ride. Because of the half life of Sub, you won't start to feel the worst of the withdrawals until about day 4 or 5.   Your withdrawals from Sub  may be worse than from the opiates you were addicted to.
No one should ever just stop taking Sub. It really needs to be tapered off of, until you get down to less than 1 mg.
The good thing is, you've only been on Sub for 2 1/2 months. If you could just get enough Sub to do a fast taper, you'd be much better off.
I don't know what else to tell you. It may take about 2 weeks for you to start feeling half way decent.

Things will get better-I promise.  I tapered to 1 mg and the WD were not that bad but over within 5 days-my doctor gave me stuff to sleep and stuff for restless legs. Maybe you could ask for something to assist with WD.
