Congratulations and thank you for posting-your story is eerily similar to mine, dental work, pain pills and all! Today is my 8th day w/o methadone after three years of it and it has been a VERY difficult day, so I thought I'd stop by to see how others are doing...I'm so happy to hear you are 60 days clean! It's an inspiration! Can I ask you how long it took to have any energy again??? I've been taking clonidine at night, also, for what little sleep I get. Today has been SO hard, I ache, im tired and I want to crawl outta my skin! I jumped off of 3mgs and it's just crazy to me how it lingers! Ugh! Anyway, congratulations, you are doing great and I hope to be doing as well as you soon!
Hi Dee, nice to hear such great news! Gosh you have done absolutely AWESOME, you should be very proud of yourself, I am sure proud of you! Try not to feel badly about taking the norcos for dental work, it is obvious you are very committed to your sobriety. Pain killers definitely have their place but you used them as prescribe and have not taken any more, good job! I think you are doing well with your sleep, I never slept for months on end after getting off methadone and still don't sleep the night through but it is getting better, and I have been off for 16 months. You have a new life now and you are making a huge change for the better. Just remember methadone takes a long time to leave the body, but you surely are on your way, well done!!!
Thanks guys for all your kind words and constant support!
Clover: you should be almost thru with the worst of any physical stuff. The chills/goose bumps lasted a few weeks for me. The energy and sleep are still a struggle however, the energy has been much better the last week or two.
Getting in my car and blasting good music while I drive made me almost forget about the discomfort the first couple weeks. Also, vitamins, hydration, protein and electrolytes seem to help quite a bit.
Keep posting for support, reach out as often as you can or need, and take day by day.
Yes, it takes time but I promise it gets better!!!
Btw- congrats on 8 days!!!!

Hey... Yes, it's been a HOT week or two. This is only my 2nd summer here in AZ. Last year I loved the heat! Didn't bother me at all! This year... Not so much, lol. Missing our beautiful fall weather already.
I would love to grab a coffee sometime! I have very few friends out here, and no one who knows about my addiction/DOC, etc so it would be really cool to have a new friend in the area!
What part of Phoenix are you from? I live in the west valley between Goodyear & Buckeye.
I'm feeling better & better everyday. I'm not a big fan of the gym and that "burn" everyone says is so great. But, I'm going everyday and sticking with it!
Thanks for all the kind words...
I know that I'm late to the party but I wanted to just chime in with a hearty WELL DONE, YOU!! Congrats on 2 mos. off M'done (& also a happy belated b'day to you).
I came off of 20 yrs. of M'done but was too impatient to do it the smart way that you did & jumped at a higher dose. Your experience after dental work with having to take the Norcos rings a bell for me. After 1 yr. & 7 mos. off Methadone, I was forced to take the same drug for only a week after surgery & am currently experiencing mild w/d's! (The system NEVER forgets once it's 'gone there' :)).
Congrats on pushing yourself to that gym. It's a really necessary thing for us to find new ways of relieving stress & finding pleasure! Great Work :)
