Congrats on taking your life back! It will be uncomfortable for a few days but you've got this!!!
Welcome! Have you looked up the Thomas Recipe? I was taking Norco and Tramidol for over 10 years and went C/T 60 days ago using the Thomas Recipe! Take plenty of fluids, water, Gatorade, juice, etc...also make sure you eat and get exercise. Hope this helps I did not take Heroine so not to sure about that....Good luck and stay on this site many helpful people on here!
Hi there & Welcome! Huge props to you for making changes in your life & on your decision to come off of Suboxone. I just wanted to ask you, when you say 'Ritolin' -- that your Dr. prescribed to help you taper -- do you mean 'Ritalin'? (not sure.) The reason I ask, (and I don't want to alarm you), is that Ritalin can be quite addictive in itself with a whole host of difficulties & abuse potential that go along w/ it. We have folks here who have come off of Ritalin & Adderall. Please, be verrrrry careful.
I'm glad to hear the detox isn't too rough coming off the Subs. How's your sleep? Stick w/ it ..it sounds like you're doing a wonderful job. I'm glad you've got the support of your family. Please, let us know what you think & how you're doing. (I love your handle, btw.) Hang in there! We're here & we're pulling for you.
As for the best way to speed your detox, it may sound boring but the things that will help you heal the fastest in the long run are: proper hydration (2 to 3 liters of water per day), a healthy, unprocessed diet & some form of regular exercise. Hot salt baths as often as needed will help w/ anxiety & will make you drowsy -- especially if followed by massage &/or reflexology. Many find that music w/ headphones/earbuds to be a necessity. Anything healthy that you enjoy like funny movies, reading, hobbies, video games, journaling, inspirational readine -- anything that helps you to 'redirect/'decouple' from your symptoms & cravings is a good thing. (Music, laughter, exercise & sex all help to jump start your endorphin production.)
You're DOING it! Yaaaay you.
Yes, I mean't Ritalin.. Sorry.. The doc said if I swap between sub and Ritalin every other day that the Ritalin will block the same receptors the suboxone does. Anyway I tried it and I don't like how it made me feel. I definitely don't need anything else to have to battle with. Thank you so much for letting me know. Also my sleep hasn't been to bad except for my legs bothering me. I've tried this 3 times before and I usually get to about day 6 and go back. I'm pushing through this time. Between prayer and support from you guys I'll make it. Thank you again.
I'm glad if it helped!! I've never heard of that protocol before & sometimes Drs. just don't understand addiction that well. You're already on day six. You CAN do this. Stay close to the site & post for support. Once you stop the opiates (Subs) completely, your acute symptoms like RLS will start to subside -- usually between 6 & 14 days on subs or Methadone. (Also, the Ritalin will interfere w/ your sleep! The thing you want the most right now!) Hang tough, my friend.
Hi there, and welcome to the forum. As you can see, you will find lots of advice and support here. You have already been given some great advice, so I won't repeat.
As far as your wife goes, perhaps she can read some of the posts here. It would certainly give her a better understanding of this disease and how it affects family members. Also, there is another forum on this site, called "Living with and addict". She can go there and even post if she wants to, and she will get advice and support from people who are in similar situations. She could also try meetings such as Alanon.
I hope you will stick around and keep posting! Let us know how you are doing. Take care.
Hi there and welcome,
Congrats for turning your life around and pointing it to the sun again! Yay!
You got some great advice above here. I was also going to suggest what
Sonrissa did about getting your wife to read some of the posts here. I
think it would help for sure.
I wish you much luck on your journey and I'll be eager to see your progress.
Go kick some W/D butt!!!
peace and hope.
Hey well done on breaking the chans, way to go! I'm almost 5 month clean from Subs, I too used them to get away from Heroin, I tried Meth first but It never agreed with me, so Subs it was. The best piece of advice I can give you is don't wait it out, keep busy. I honestly think the more natural approach you take the easier it becomes, your not confusing an already confused system with other drugs! It does take a while to bounce back but bounce back you do! It's great to hear you have a supportive family, that will help so much. I would agree and have your wife read some old threads on Sub detox, just to let her understand you don't just wake up fom your first bit sleep recovered and ready to fight the world again, it's an uphill battle for sure. It's so doable though, with the want in your heart everything's possible right! Proud of you my friend, now get some exercising done, lol. You'll be thankfull you did, keep it up.
Welcome & great job. Day 2 - as you know - is hard. On my 2nd day 2 (I had to start over once) I don't think I even got dressed.
It gets better!! Stay in touch!
Thank everyone so much for the advice and support. It's amazing how it feels to have people who know and understand tell you that you can make it. It's great. I will keep posted daily and thanks again..
