I went to a rehab in late 1999 , And I have been clean for only so long
the thing is I keep relapsing and  now I am going through a bad breakup after almost 20 years and yes he was abusive
he was the bread winner really I make very little and I am going though such a hard time with depression  to I was put on zoloft I took it for 4 days and was shaking  and more nervous almost couldn't function. I know they say stick it out untill5 or 6 weeks I couldn't do it then I was put on tramazadam or something like that to sleep I don't wanna take that eithe
don't no what to do. I think I need a rehab , but more importantly I don't want my job to know and because I am only allowed to be out for no more then 12 weeks and  I have been out 6 already. I am scared and feeling ery vulnerable and scared , any suggestions
Thanks ,
K

Been there, done that! It will get better but the drugs won't make it better. I was diagnosed bipolar in the middle of my traumatic and dangerouse divorce. I tried every cocktail the pyschiatrist could think of to no avail. I decided to have a baby alone, docs tapered me off meds and have not needed them since. Makes me wonder how much of depression is hormonal? Anyway, trust me when I tell you that getting rid of him will be a huge turning point in your life. Do you mind telling us what you do and general location? You don't need to if you are uncomfortable. I was thinking someone might have some suggestions. I own a company that is in the artistic, children's(girls) boutique area. PM me if you think I can help.

Just remember because I have to tell myself this daily....the answers to life are not in a bottle. All you will find in there are more problems...

I am praying for you. PM me if you need to talk. Marty

Hi & Welcome,

If you are using then I would always recommend inpatient rehab, especially when you are willing to go. Then I suggest that you follow it up with some heavy duty aftercare. Basically, do it different this time such as getting into a relapse prevention program for starters.

Most addicts are no strangers to depression. We alter and abuse our brain chemistry for so long, it is almost inevitable.

I too believe that you should try a different antidepressant until you find the one that works for you.

Hope to see you stick around here. There are so many good members here to support you every step of the way.

Are you clean now ?  If not, do what ever it takes to get there.  Getting clean needs to be #1.
I also have trouble with antidepressants. Sometimes you have to try a few to find the right one for you. Keep reading and posting. It really helps.
