Thank you. Well not my doctor but the anestiologist that does it. I've read more about it and its supposed to help with my pelvic pain right after they do it. So I'm praying it does and the injection site doesn't hurt too much bc I will not get more pain meds. I go back to my actual doctor on the 19th and at that time let her know how the injection worked etc.

That's great that you're going! Anything you can get done for the initial pain is a plus. I'm here to tell you, Vicodin didn't even touch my sciatic pain. My procedure helped me out of misery. I don't know anything further than what they did for me, but I wish you the best my friend. These pain specialist have quite an array of procedures they work with. Good you can talk with your dr first. Discuss the risks and percent of success. I pray it works out for you.

It's called a Celiac Plexus Nerve Injection. Just spoke with a nurse and told her about what's going on and she said well he may or may not write you a few just in case you need it. She said they haven't done many of these kinds so she isn't sure how Ill react. She said I need to come tomorrow and talk to him about my concerns before the procedure. She said they put you in twilight sedation because you cannot move and need to be relaxed. So I guess I will go and see what happens. I'm in pain right now so can't be worse?

Good morning! Wanted to share what we have in common! I know exactly what you're talking about with the injection. It's called an ESI, right? Epidural Steroid Injection. I had 3 of them, and they took. My pain went away, at least where the hernia was sticking directly into my sciatic nerve. All I'm going to say is "no fear!", at least based on my experience. Your's could be at a different location on the spine. Mine was L4. My pain doctor started with a little pinch injection a numbing medicine first (novicane) and that pinch was the last thing I felt in the injection area. My doctor didn't give me anything else, like sedate me in any way. He didn't need to. I was nervous as all hell the first time, and they want you laying completely still, but the next 2 times I went, it was a piece of cake for me. You actually feel the Steroid going thru your nerve, like a cooling sensation. Feels good actually. Beats the hell out of the sciatica pain, that's for sure. To avoid a headache, I was supposed to remain quiet and watch TV for 12 hours after, that was about the only thing that suxed. By the next day my pain was on the mend. I just wanted to put your apprehension to rest. It really works, and my proceedure was painless... I hope you have the same luck.

Kudos to you on being honest with your dr. That is a huge move. You have in no way messed up! If you are truly ready to quit the pills, this is a huge step in the right direction. You have to cut out your sources, whether that be a dealer or a doctor. You will make it through this. We are here for you. Keep posting!

Yes I was trying to be honest and see if I should sill have this injection tomorrow. They're very strict where I live so no going to other doctor bc they run a report. I'd turn up negative on my drug test the 19th also. They say in they give two mess ups taking too much medication before they discharge. Did I mess up?

Well, I can tell you that if you told a pain management doctor that you used up 40 pills that you should still have for awhile, he/she will not be giving you anymore. These doctors are 10x as strict as a normal doctor. At least where I live this is the case, as they will sometimes ask you to bring in your pills (randomly) and they will count them, scary stuff. Of course the obvious way people beat this is just to buy the same type and replace them.

You always want to be careful in your excitement to just go for it. Where you see telling your pain Dr. as being honest...he may see it very differently.

Tomorrow would be my first time getting this injection. It goes straight into your sciatic nerve and your sedated to do it. They say you need pain med after but really I should have 40 left till the 19th. I called and left a voicemail first thing being honest about wanting to do the injection but out of pain meds. No call back yet. I am at work and work full time. I'm so sick today. Nauseous, dirreah severe pelvic cramps. Cold chills.

What type of injections do you get? If they are non narcotic you should probably stick with those and drop the pain pills. Many times the pain gets better once off the narcotics. Hyperalgesia is an opiate induced pain, it has to do with more pain receptors developing.
Try to move around as much as possible, keep hydrated it is very important.
How long were you on the pills?

Lower back pain was my #1 issue with WDs, so I totally feel your pain. Man mine never seemed to go away, but it does die down.

Ashley you got to cut off that source. Tell your doctor what you're going through and that you want to do something about it. Get your doctor on board. I told my doctor I'm addicted to the stuff and don't want any more of it. He was very happy with my decision and he then really helped me out. I made that commitment to stop using, and haven't regretted it since. Doctors also have some scripts, like Clonidine, they will give you that will really help when you have them working with you to get off of opiates. Just something to think about.

Don't be disappointed in yourself. Just look at running out as an opportunity to quit once and for all. You are in acute w/ds, everyone has some great ideas for comfort/distraction. Take baths, get some exercise, cry a little, it's actually a huge relief! Try not to just lay around and toss and turn, that's when the minutes turn in to hours and the depression hits hard. You're in for a rough few days, but it will be so worth it to get your life back, I promise you! You've made it this far, now just keep going!

Don't be disappointed in yourself. Just know that the stuff we took is one of the most addictive drugs on planet earth. We're expected to get either addicted or at least dependent on them. No way around it. I see my addiction as a disease that I have to treat on a daily basis. I also have Asthma that I treat every day.

You need to congratulate yourself, not feel bad! If you have the desire to stay stopped, you landed on the right site my friend. We're here to help. Look at running out as a chance to finally get free from them... this is a chance of a lifetime for you.

I took up to 10 Percoset 10 Mg a day. I had 90 filled on 5/18 and ran out yesterday at 6/1 at 2pm. I am cramping horribly. Last month I told myself that I wouldn't overtake my prescription. I did though. I don't know why I don't have control. I am very disappointed in myself.

Clonidine is really helpful through detox. Keeps the BP in check and helps with sleep. As mentioned above, you'll behold the power of a good hot bath with Epsome Salts. The Thomas Recipe was also mentioned. Look below on the right and get those items. I also found that Magnesium supplements and B complex helps. The Mag. supps. help with the muscle and tendon soreness.

Just know that it's all temporary. I LOVE Dan's "sometimes you have to walk down a dark alley, to get to the church". That is so true. Just hang on. Depending on the variables of what you've been on and how long you've been on it, you will start to get out of the bad stuff soon. Your miracle is just around the corner.

Welcome to the site! You've found a place where you can express you're feelings, and be true to yourself by being yourself. There is real wisdom, and honest help. Just knowing you're not alone in this is hopefully comforting. It's a scary thing to do. But sometimes you HAVE to walk down a dark ally, to get to the church. Here's to you seeing the path!

Hey & Welcome! Sixteen hours in? It's great to hear that you're getting some sleep! You may 'hate' it..but you're doing it! Keep it up! You CAN do this. Just think, in less than a week you'll be through it and if you stick to it, you'll never have to go through w/d's or live the life of an addict again! I congratulate you on your big decision and on your grit.

If you get bored, restless or anxious try to decouple from your symptoms. Put on your favorite music with earbuds (helps fire up those endorphins.), watch a funny movie (laughing is great for endorphin production), take a walk in the sun (exercise helps speed detox and the sun helps with mood). As marycarmel above mentions, take as many hot salt baths (doesn't have to be epsom -- regular salt will do) to relax & detoxify you. Try to force yourself to eat binding foods and stay well hydrated (2 to 3 liters of plain water per day.) Try to stay away from processed/fried foods, sugar & caffeine. If you have the runs use Imodium. (Just follow the directions).

Try not to stress. Don't worry about the next hour or day. Stay busy. If you can't sleep, don't toss and turn. Do something you enjoy or stay online and post. Please, use the site as lifeline during your 'acute withdrawals' . It's an absolutely amazing & inspiring resource. (I know I couldn't have gotten as far as I have without the tremendous support, advice and commradery I've received here.) So, stick with it. Hold Fast! We're Here & we're rooting for ya'.
