Addict boyfriend says he's "doomed"

My BF snorts 120 (or more) oxy's a day, his father's prescription (his father doesn't need it). He watched Heroin Nation tonight while I wasn't home and he is feeling very depressed. So depressed that he took an extra dose afterward. He thinks he is "doomed" - there is no hope for an addict like him. Is it true? Is there life after oxy addiction?  Can he start to cut down without excruciating pain? Is there something I can do to help?

He recently got his father to up his prescription from 40's to 60's, from 80mg to 120mg a day. Plus he get's them refilled every 3 weeks instead of every month. Don't these doctors care? Don't they have a clue??

His father is an alcoholic and thinks that oxy is a better addiction for his son than alcohol.

One good thing is that he sounds like he is aware there is a problem.  That's huge.  I'm not near an expert on this particular situation as I have no experience.  I'm sure it's not easy and you definately have some prayers comin' from me.  I imagine if I was dating someone at the height of my addiction and they tried to help.  I except that I would of gotten upset and probably still denied that there was a problem even though all along I knew there was one.  What for some more answers from people who have either experienced having a loved one addicted or maybe they were helped by a loved one during their addiction and something they did helped them.  If you don't find the answers you're looking for, repost the question again later because this is pretty serious.  I honestly think dealing with trying to help an addict is a lot tougher than being an addict yourself.  Good luck and God Bless.

There is life after addiction. There are people here who were taking as much,if not double what he's doing a day and have some significant clean time under their belt and are once again living life.Does he want to get clean? Does he say he's ready to stop? How long has he been doing this?
