i think the taper for oxycontin is 14% a week...thats what my dr told me...but he gave me a break, and instead went from giving me 300 80s a week, yes a week, to 280,then 260,then240 and so on...so he dropped off 20 tabs everyweek until i got to 200 a week....nowhis next move was to taper me 1.5 pills a day so in total 11 pills a week...so i went from 200 pills to 189 pills...and when i complained that it should only be 1.0 pills a week he said ok..so from 189 to 182 , then to 175 tablets, and when i went in the following friday feb.19.2010 he cut me off cold turkey...he told me he would stick by me until i got into rehab. He was in contact with my therapist at CAMH...and i was to be addmitted in April of 2010,the same year...so i onnly had like a month and a bit to go...im 24 years old..i told my DR in the beggining i was hooked on them and i could get off them myself if he could give a bunch of 10mg Oxys. So he agave me 100 tabs...but it went from that to getting 35, 20mg tabs a week, and i kept having it increased and he didnt blink an eyelash when i would go into see him...he always had a smile on and up'd my doseage...until one day two years later i was gettin 10, 40mg tablets a day...so 70 tabs a week..then i told him i wantd 5 80s a day instead of 10, 40mgs a day (same thing less pills)..he did it once again...and then i got him to up it a little while after to 10 80mg tabs a day..until i started using them like crazy and going thru them so quick that in the very worst i was getting 300 80mg tabs and 200 40mg tabs A WEEK and eating every single one of them...also 120 clonazapam a month...but id run out within two weeks and he would always allow my refill out of the pharmacy early..this dr...is still prescribing pain killers to people here in toronto... the college of drs and phys. isnt trying to help me at all...im trying to get my files released for them but my Dr.( or old Dr) wont let his staff release the file..i ended up with liver problems, kidney problems, pneumonia twice...my teeth are almost all gone and the thing that saved my life...was SUBOXONE...i went into a methadone clinic got on the meth and 9 days later was admitted to CAMH after beggging them to let me in. They put me on Suboxone after the half life of the meth wore off, cuz it can kill u, or put u into a reallly bad withdrawl, called precipatated withdrawl. Almost dead basically. So ya Suboxone definatley works wonders for addictions..I was sick the first night i was in detox( couldnt sleep, diarhea, joint muscle pains? if they even pains..weakness..chills sweats all that fun stuff) but other then the first nite i was able to sleep everynite...with the help of my clonazapam and seroqeul.THATS IT...anyone have any questions about suboxone , write on this forum wall to --NICK from Toronto-- hope my story scares some of you u to quit and get clean...i love life right now...:) thnks for reading ciao
thank you for that info, dilaudid is also a norcotic it is for breakthroug pain (pain that you get before it is time for your next oxy). All my meds come from my doctor, that what make me mad they never told me about addiction. Thanks again for all your help
well man to be honest with everything that you have done to you it seems that you need something to take the pain away...However there is a medication called keteroloc or something to that extent, just google it...as far as i know it is not a narcotic and it just takes away pain, produces no euphoria or anything now i dont know about the dosage but that is something that the doctor would know...i would bring that medication up to him and query him about possibly switching to that if it works for you...that goes as far as fixing your pain with something that is not mind altering...but you say you are on 80 mg oxycontin, now that will be hard to get off of, but if you talk to your doctor about keteroloc then they can consider taking you off the oxycontin, but do not quit cold turkey on your meds...with all of your surgery and metal i doubt it would be nearly possible for you to just get off oxy without killing yourself, if you talk to your doctor about the keteroloc make sure you tell him you are addicted to the oxycontin and you would like to get off it with the least amount of withdrawls possible. And im sure they can work out a program with you to were you will wean off the oxy, but i will take time but it is steps to getting your life back. i wish i could help more about the dilaudid but i have no idea of what that is used for, if you reply to me about what it is and what comes with quitting it cold turkey im sure i could supply help of some type... But hang in there man, you can get your life back
yes it is possible to get your life back, but let the doctor who perscribes you the meds help you. the doc will know what doses to give you and get you off slowly. Good Luck. You can do this.
HI And welcome to the forum....wow thats quit a bit your on there...I also have back problems but not nearly as bad as what you have...you could detox yourself but with these large doses it would be best to get your doctor involved and he/she can help you taper off
these pills come in smaller doses it would be good to have your doctor involved with a detox of this magnitude...that or a rehab... where all about doing it yourself but there are other issues that come into play here....med help also has a pain management forum google it
it might be a better fit for your situation ...I wish you all the luck in the world but you really need professional help with something like this.......Gnarly
