Another one with Oxycontin issue...

Hi there.  I have been prescribed oxycontin for back pain.  A very real back pain.
I was up to 100-120mg a day.  About two years ago my marriage (two boys, 5 and 11) started to go.  Now the case in in court and yet, my wife wrote me a letter outlying my addiction/physical dependency.
I cut the use to 70mg.
Today I went to recovery center but it was not for me.  Went to my regular doctor who said to make a plan for pain first and than work off of oxycontin slowly.  Cut by 10-20mg every three-four days.

Any ideas?  Any thoughts?  Any advise?

Thanks!

That was quick!
Thanks for the good word.  I've got plenty of reasons to do it, not many not to, so I will do it.  I know i'm in for one hell-of-a-ride!
I'll keep you posted, OK?

Today I took 55mg!  We'll see how I'll feel tomorrow...

Hey, does anyone have any thoughts about the spiritual aspect of all this?  Seeking counsel from a priest, monk, rabbi, whatever your way in might be?

Listen to your doctor and let them help you...Rally as much support around you as you can get, this is a great place for that.Get some after care in place, meetings or one on one counseling.Make a plan and stick to it.You can do this....All the best...Kim

Some quit cold turkey, other taper off. Any way you get clean is a good way. Go for it. If your Dr knows and is helping you...Do it. Just don't switch to Tramadol or some other drug. Pain will be there no matter what. It will even get worse as your body will increase the pain in order to make you give it the pain pills. Don't give in...ever. Good luck, You Can Do This.
