Anybody been this bad?

My husband is taking about 20-30 30mg oxycodone pills a day . I was wondering if there is anyone who has had success coming off of this much medication and how they did it Can he just stop? or is it dangerous with that amount of medication in his system?

At my lowest point, taking my highest amount would have been about 4-6 10mg. hydros every 4 hours: so between 24 to 30+ per day... plus add the somas and xanax i would take to "boost" the euphoric effect... UGH!  I can tell you that a cold turkey taper is difficult, but possible!  I did it and am at almost 5 mos. free from those pills!  Good luck to your hubby!  PS- my hubby ct'd along side me.. his usage was up there too... and we both made it thru.

its alot but it can be done. I would tapper and seriously not jump off at that high dose

Your husband can get off this medication if he wants to. i am not saying it is easy at all but believe it or not there are people here that have been on even more and they have wonderful inspiring stories..it is absolutely possible..As far as the danger..everyones different.It depends on his overall health too.I believe it would be risky to go off that much c/t and the w/d's alone would be hard..not impossible. i went c/t of methadone I am lucky i didn't die..I don't think your husband can just stop though. he has an addiction and needs to take steps for himself.It's wonderful for you to support him and encourage him to get on here or at least maybe read about others..there is definately hope. he just is the one that has to decide.
