Appearance during our drug use???

the drugs we used did a lot of damage not only to our minds, but also our appearance during use. i remember having friends and family tell me that i looked like ****, lol and i know i did. i had lost a lot of weight, had those dark circles under my eyes and my skin looked so pale. sometimes i looked like a fr eaking zombie. i was also mean and impatient sometimes. ok i was an as shole during my use:). anyway i saw an old friend today i have not seen for almost a year and he said that i looked healthier. i have to admit that it felt good. what i really heard him say was "glad to see you are off the coke. it just struck me strange i guess that a lot people knew i was always hopped up on coke. although this was a tiny compliment, (too bad it was from a guy, lol), it made me feel good. just wanted to know if you guys can notice a difference in your appearance now or if you have had someone notice you are clean just by looking at you? maybe a dumb question, but im interested to see how fugly ya'll got when you used and how hot you are now, lol:), but seriously can u notice a difference in how you look now, compared to when you used???

I was using meth for about 5 years before going on pills.. I am 5'8'' and I weighed 100 pounds. Thats really skeleton skinny. People used to say how unhealthy I looked. I lost a lot of my hair, my nails were brittle.. But once I stopped using I gained 20 pounds and my hair is longer than ever.. people in my family give me compliments all the time about how much healthier I look and I know what they  mean too. Im glad your off drugs. lol. But I appreciate them being proud of me. Thats all it is.

I've been using for 7 months, but don't see much difference. I've always been small about 110 at 5.3. Looked exactly the same when I was using. Believe it or not some of my friends including my husband told me I was better looking than ever. I really didn't agree with that, but i exercised all through my use, kickboxing, palates. Wearied combination, ha. I still felt motivated to move, never set on my butt. Now I've been about 6 days clean. Hope to keep it this way. Really not sure why the drugs didn't effect me. The wost of it is neither my husband nor my friend believed me about my addiction, because of my fresh upbeat appearance, until the very end, when I started getting a lot of mood swings. I guess both had it's good and bad sides.

The whole weight thing seems to be quit variable I have a physical job and am 5' 7'' and weighed 125-128 from before I started using and didn't gain or lose any at all. As for appearance I am by habit somewhat of a perfectionist and I kept myself, my car,my room and everything else absolutely clean and orderly at all times. If I was laying in bed almost asleep and saw something out of place I coudn't fall asleep until I got up and fixed it!  The pills did make my face breakout at times though (unless it was caused by something else) and my friends would occasionaly say something about me walking around looking like I was sleep walking.

last summer my daughter got married. it was the social event of the year. a formal affair with drs, lawyers, whos who. i lost 15 pounds that i didn't need to lose, my hair, eyes ,skin and dress were all the same color.i can't look at the pictures i am in. i looked 30 years older. which would put me around 80. needless to say the event was a blur. it took me from july to january to make a plan to quit.

So what is it about the opiate pills that cause the swelling/bloating...like mine and marcatj big 'ol heads and spinefused's legs and body???..I've seen others post about this too..

I lost a TON of weight while on the O's!! I went from a size 38 to a size 32 in under about 8 months!! I used for about 2 years. It didnt get bad until about the last 8 months or so. You could tell I had something wrong with me. Glad Im back to my normal self. Well, clean and preggo right now BUT once I have this lil one, Ill get back into my 32's, I HOPE & PRAY, HEHE.

due to my addiction, and the life i lead, I have been shot a few times, stabbed, beat till i been hospitalized, lost some teeth n eye to bullet.....
damn im all messed up!! thanx giz for makin me thinka bout that on a friday!!!
but it really don matta to me, cuz when my babies look at dad, all they see is the love i got for em, not the scars of hate! so maybe i am kinda rough, maybe i am an outlaw, but if ya don like the way i look, maybe try lookin the otha way.

Boy i looked like Skeletor out of He-Man!
Grayish skin, sunken eyes, severly underweight.....(so underweight, it hurt to walk, sleep, sit, anything)

Since getting clean i have put on 32lb, such a better colour to my skin and well...i think i look so much better than what i did (anything was an improvement from then).

Yes i was a cavedweller and it had no running water!!!!  That was nasty.  Now i am in the shower everyday and all my business is clean!!!!!!

i know.. it was weird. it was mostly toward the end of mine too, now that i think about it.

but i also sucked down a lot of beers then too, when i was using.. to kick it up a notch.

so i was fat, bloaty and gross.... ha!

I went from 185 short hair and healthy to 220 longer hair and fat.... but I do have a pretty good tan so the grey look isn't noticeable.  I also fell in love with late night movies and soft drinks by the case.  The worst problem for me is water retention... my calves can be indented by half an inch when using (got bored and measured one night while my family was sleeping.  The funny stories and even the sad ones keep me coming here... I love all you guys!!!!

lifesaride....took pills so I wouldn't sit on my *ss...never ever stopped. That's why I took 'em. That's why to this day, on the wagon or off, got to get it all done. No time for sittin'.

marcatj...that's what happend to me...but it just started towards the end of my abuse..never never all along. I looked back at all my pictures, I'm very honest with myself, to a fault almost and I never was 'swollen head' and upper body...WTH is that from!!!!! Like I said that was at the end of my abuse. It was when I was using a lot...a lot.

See that's why I love this site. I would have never known anyone to go through or 'look' like what I did. I felt alone and worried.

i gained weight on the pills too... more than weight really, i just looked puffy.  my face looked fat!

i saw pic's of me recently during the time i was abusing, and my face looked like a balloon... lol  a real tank!

and i'm not a big woman.

COME ON NOW, LETS BE HONEST HERE.You all know the biggest difference in your appearence while useing was you all looked like you needed a shower. cuz ya know you sat your as ses in the house waiting for the dr with the script or the dude to call, so you can run , get your stuff and run right back to the cave.

I am still tapering but went from 200mg of oxy to 50mg..I was told today that I dont have such a glazed look in my eyes but as for looking like I feel good not quite yet..I did while using the pills gain quite abit of weight..prob cuz I just sat on my rear and let it get wider cuz as long as I was high I didnt have ambition to go out and do anything..Like others have said though..will tackle that prob in abit once this one is under control..I do think its true and depends on what your choice of drug is...
