Benzo withdrawal?

I have been on Xanax the past sixs years, I have been up to 10 mg a day and now I am down to 2 mg a day. Will it be very hard to get off of? I never thought I would get down this far but is it safe to discontinue use after being on 2 mg for 30 days? I know the wd is really bad but I have not taken it in two days and I have read stuff on line saying you have to wean yourself off very slowly? I really need the right advice because I am a mental mess to begin with I do not want to get phycially too sick.. Any advise would be great,!

I've gone cold turkey off high doses of Bezos twice.  Once Xanax, once Ativan.  I didn't have a seizure but it was pure Hell. Body aches, muscle twitching, and massive anxiety. I wasn't getting them from a doctor so I couldn't ask for a taper schedule.  I didn't have the will power to do it myself. When I ran out and couldn't get anymore I quit.  It took about 9 days until I started to come around.  By the 14th day I knew I would survive.  If you can get sleep meds so you can fall asleep and get a break at night it will be much easier.  I couldn't sleep for days. Good luck, you can do it.

hello and welcome. you definitely CAN NOT stop xanax at 2mgs, the risk of seizure is great. you need to continue to taper down to 0mgs. many times the physical withdrawals for xanax dont start until many days later because of the long half-life and the time it takes to metabolize. it is still in your system now.
when tapering down your anxiety will intensify that is part of the w/d process. it is best to have a doctor give you a taper schedule. tapering too quickly is dangerous.
