Experience with 21 day methadone program?

So ive had addiction problems in the past. Been through rehab a few times all that good stuff about 6 years ago when i shot OCs and used duragesic patches.

FF my life 5 years later sober i started having alot of problems had a very hard time coping. So one day i decided to start using again anyways its been about a year now and ive been up an down through my use peaking at 120mgs OC and 100mgs  of morphine a day. Im currently at 90mgs of norco and 23mgs oxycodone a day to feel normal.

I cant afford this life anymore  and im never happy and i refuse to go back to IV or herion, So i called and made an appointment to get on the methadone program the 21 day taper, my question is if this will be painless ive searched and searched everyone is on MMT which im not into i dont want to get addicted to meth. I know there is alot more to addiction than detox trust me im working on finding a physcologist right now too. Im just curious what to excpect with a 21 day tapper i know they also have 180 day tappers but i dont want the meth in my bones..  im scared but im poor and i have no way out ive tried cold turkey benzos vitmans whatever. Self taper works alright for me sometimes but im so sick of the up and downs of fast acting opiates..

ya ive been down this road before. my problem is i have no support i cant take days off work, and i felt so bad before i started using im afraid all those problems will come back x3 with the whole paws thing.

My thinking is methadone can help me deeat the physicall symptoms if used in a quick manner, and also give me some time to not be hi but also be well some time to think... I will also have someone controlling my taper and testing me which is a good thing, i have motivation to work this 21 day thing and not do MMT as long as its better and cheaper than using fast acting opies to taper, waking up sick all the ups and downs every few hours..
I have a buddy who wants to do it with me to help with the support factor and he defintely wont do it longer than 21 days. As for the paws and the problems i had before imm trying to line up a pysch..

Just wondering if the 21 day program will aqllow me to be human through detox i dont want to roll through and be sicker at the end of the program than i am now.

hi well it sounds like you been down the road b/4 so you no what to expect
I was on methadone for 6 1/2yrs and would tell you to run the other way b/4
you decide to start with it...there where many at the clinic that tried quick
tapering and couldn't handle it and wound up in mmt because they started with it
it isent worth the chance to get hung up on methadone if you can taper yourself
off what your already on the clinics only incorage you to stay on it longer and thats
where the problems start.....methadone is a monster to get off of...if you already have a problem with narcotics I wouldn't risk getting messed up with methadone its only
a worst problem in the long run..tapering slowly off methadone is difficult I cant imagine trying to do it in 21 days...think this one out carefully b/4 you jump into it
your probably better off tapering off what your on now...at least give it a try b/4 trying to use methadone as a short cut....methadone detoxing is not painless it is far from it....good luck on what ever you decide......God bless......Gnarly

Wow, im sorry no one has responded to you yet! Anyways as for the methadone, it may make it a little more bearable to come off the dope but probably not by much. Either way you do it, methadone, cold turkey, or tapering, you will still have to feel and deal with some amount of withdrawals. There really isn't an easy way out if you really want to do this but it can be done. I would stay away from the long term methadone maintenance programs, as that will only get you an even more difficult drug to come off of eventually. The real work comes in the aftercare. You need to get committed to your recovery, either through meetings a counselor or even better, do both. Any of us can find a way to get through the physical detox, for me cold turkey was the only way, but the real work comes when we are faced with dealing with our lives and working hard to maintain our recovery. Keep posting here for extra support and turn to your Heavely Father, he has the power you need to get through this. I will keep you in my prayers and we are here to support you. God Bless.
