When we have a habit , it is like rubber bands in our brain,,, you ever drive to work and wonder how you got there well when you do something over and over again it is like a thick rubber band betweet two points and it gets thicker the more you do it, when you swich to a new thing (being clean) the rubber band is real thin and when you keep staying clean, reaching out..not going to the doctors, maybe swich up your week , sleep on the other side of bed...this will encourage new habits(the band gets thicker) and soon your brain will go OH YA this is the new way to think Hope this helps .
is interesting you post this - i was in a lot of pain for over a year and i went from being clean to a lot of painkillers in a short period of time, so theoretically, they ought to have killed the pain. but they didn't. whilst i don't doubt that there were protracted periods of pain, for the most part, the pain was psychosomatic. i know that now, when i am tapering i am going to come up against similar pain, and i also know that a pill will not fix it. it is hard tho, breaking through that. if you are in legitimate physical pain, you should legitimately take a pain pill, right? that's why they're called painkillers. except. no, it's a mental pain, physically manifested.
Have you ever gone any length of time without the pain medication? I ask so that you can get an accurate reading on your pain level. The pain that keeps you relapsing is real---don't misunderstand---but it is very possibly withdrawal pain. If you can get off of the pain and stay off you will get a better reading and then make the decision if the pain meds are the way to go. There are so many other things you can for pain mngt, please do not think pills are the answer. They should only be prescribed for short-term use.
Hang in there and let us know what is going on with you.
Do not fret....You obviously need some help from your doctor to find some non-narcotic pain medication.....Pain is a horrible thing to live with! I have lived with it for years. I will honestly say that after a while my pain receptors were so downplayed that it took LOTS of meds to even get anywhere near some for of management. I am 13.5 days clean and am taking some prescription strenght non-narcotic pain relievers....They actually do just as good....Also, becareful of your brain....it has a tendency to REALLY enjoy narcotics and it will try anything to maintain its fix, including manifesting pain. I STILL have some pain issues but I know that some if not most are created by my brain.....
I relapsed a 100 times......now with that being said, this does not mean that you can just run out and go through another bender....If you flush all remaining pills now and talk to your Dr. on your next appointment about what you are trying to accomplish......Your Dr. might get weirded out and cut you off but that is what you want.....There is no such thing as long term opiod based pain management.....You just graduate to more and more pills then you finally work yourself up to maintenance drugs like Methadone.....Good luck and God bless!
all is not lost, i relapsed a few times before making it, and so have others, dont give up, ever, you can still do it, god bless
Rebound pain is no fun and plays he!! on our brain but it would of gotten better. I hope you get this figured out~~
