Florida Baker Act question

My b/f was Baker Acted this evening for his drug addiction(in Florida.) His mother filed the paper work and all that jazz. What I would like to know is if they give you a drug test upon being admitted? He took a bunch of pills when he found out the police were going to make him go. I want the doctors to know everything so they can try adn help him. Any information will help, thanks!!!

Vicki is right about worried....it is worried878. I know she lives in florida and is very knowledgeable so thought she may be able to help.
It sounds as though Vicki knows as she said the do a tox/drug screen so they know how to treat.

Hi and welcome!  I think it's" worried878 ".  She's in Fl. and I see her on the forum late at night.  Even if it's not the right persom, 878 is pretty smart.



Also, I do know that when a drug abuser is admitted to a mental health facility they do a tox/drug screen as standard procedure so they know what they're dealing with. Also,if your bf took all those pills before leaving...well,they'll probably notice he's stoned.

Thanks a lot! I appreciate it. His mother was informed by me about his problem. She knows exactly what he is taking. The only thing to really upset me is this: When the police came to the door they were condoling my b/f saying he didn't look "messed up." My b/f was all smiling and chit chatting with these cops. This is serious and they are all joking about it. Anyhow, his mother wrote all the stuff on paper, which I am sure the center got when he arrived. I will contact "Worried." Thanks so much again!

I'm really not sure on the drug test question. You would think that because he was forced to go by by his mom and then taken there by the police that they would do a drug test.  But if not, I wonder if you got together with his mom and told her of everything that you know he takes if she could then get in touch with the rehab facility and let them know of his different pill addictions? It's hard to say if he will be completely honest with them or not. One person that is part of this forum who could probably answer this for you would be Worried. She is a nurse in Florida. You should send her a message. If not, she is usually on here around midnight or so and I'm sure she will see this post tomorrow and answer it for you. Best of luck!
