Cold turkey?

Ok here it goes.
I am the wife of an x- oxycotin (spelling?) user turned to other drugs..
in short I am looking for advice from someone who may be able to answer a few questions..
In short here is the line of addiction.
oxys
went to rapid detox center-Didn't work
Back to oxys-couldn't get them anymore
went to methodone clinic for 2 yrs
went on suboxone for a year-worked great
Moved out of the country, and now he can't get suboxone becuase they don't have it in this country?
we have been looking for other alternatives because he was clean-only on suboxone for a yr.
In the meantime-he turned to Heroin-powder & snorting..
I really need to know anything that may help.
He is thinking cold turkey is not a good idea. He was very comfortable & happy with the suboxone, and is totally tramatized that he ca't get it here. he has been hiding the heroin habit from me for 2 months.. His old doctor can not supply suboxone because we moved out of the country, there are no doctors here that provide it/nor do they carry it in any pharmacy here.
My husband loves us i know it, but he is not the same person he was. He lies, and steals, and i know he hates himself for it. we moved here for a new start.. and the new start sucks..
in any event, i told him today we need a solution..
does anyone have any alternatives to suboxone/methodone.
If not & we go cold turkey..Any advice?
thanks.
regards
-M

personally i would much rather him take some sort of pain meds instead of methadone...but if that is his only option..it is better than buying dope off the street and dying..I was on methadone..it is not a pretty drug to w/d from..is cold turkey out of the question for him...if he does go the methadone route..I suggest he do as little as possible..maybe ask about a short taper..there has only been a couple of people here who had success that way..i will try to get a hold of someone..I went cold turkey off 65mg..yes it sucked in all ways possible..and every heroin user I spoke to said they would rather go through w/ds 5 times from heroin over methadone once..I wish I had something more to help you with..

yes, they seem to have most everything here but that. we are in greece. there is a BIG heroin problem out here...just what we needed...
he does have methodone as an option... i don't know much about it, but he does. i just did not know if that was the best way to go.. or if there was something better that anyone knew about that we were not aware of. thanks for reading:)

I am so sory for your situation..I am glad that your husband did get off the pills but essentially all he has been doing is trading one for another..Since he can't get suboxone where you are..Then his only choice seems to be cold turkey unless he can wean with another narcotic that is available..I wish i had better advice,..I haven't used heroin but I did go cold turkey off methadone and that is a nightmare..If he could have someone taking care I am sure he can do this..I know others will be along..what country are you in? Maybe they have some sort of program there...drug abuse is world wide..so there should be something available..
