Although I'm not a smoker, I do think that quitting the pills, then the cigs is the best approach. But, if you feel strong enough, then there's no harm in trying; you'll only come out healthier on the other end.
I'm approaching 120 days clean, and lived on this site for the first 7. Reading, posting, keeping my mind off the detox - the advice and support on this forum was what kept me going sometimes. Keep posting; if the going gets really rough, post your feelings, concerns, worries. The odds are we've experienced the same and may be able to help.
Thanks so much..I think this site will only improve my odds of beating this thing..and to top things off since I have been so sick because of the cold/flu and now pneumonia..I am about to kick the cigarette habit to..if i can, I cannot smoke but a couple hits right now without coughing and it hurts too much..might as well roll with it because I do not think I have smoked more than 5 -7 a day since withdrawals began..
I just do not want do too much at one time because definitely the pills have to go first..if the cigs go to right now even better!!
Congratulations...Day 7 is monumental. You will start feeling better and better as each day passes. And yes, although the mental part of recovery lasts a while, you can deal with it easier as you heal physically.
Keep posting - on to day 14, etc.
